Computer running very slow
My computer is running real slow lately. I have defragged it ran virus scans and compacted it. I remember when I was still under warranty I called HP and he had me delete temp files. Can I empty them all or how do I know which ones I may need?
The computer is a HP DV6000 pavillion laptop 2 g of Ram with an intel duo processor. Any other suggestions I would appreciate it. Thanks Chris |
1.) use the contol- alt -delete feature to bring up your
task manager to [[[see]]] whats running in there: you can make the processor usage visual on a graph also take notice of how much memory is being used too you can end process too on apps that you DONT want running if you don't know what they are :point: google them |
Great job by HP. If you delete temp files you will be able to delete almost all but the files that are actually infecting your computer :smash:
Download and scan with: Malwarebytes.org Once done, scan with: prevx.com If there is still stuff, pay the $30 for a year - well worth it. |

the graph in task manager shows about 1 gb of ram being used thats 1/2 of what I have. Is this about right? there were lots of processes when I opened task manager but they were all listed but only a couple seemed to be running. Should I go through and google them even though they don't seem to running or using any ram? thanks for all your help |
another thing to check
is what is on your start menu meaning...when you boot up .......what programs are set up to start so right click your start button and see whats in there !!! the less the better..... too many and it slows down your PC big time |
because
when you install stuff and your just clicking install it fast as you can... to get the install over with........
you may not have noticed the question that asks you do you want this on your start menu? and if you clicked yes then each of those programs (progy's) will be using up memory\ 1/2 a gig memory being used sitting idle makes me suspect that this is whats happening meaning all kinds of progy's are running in the back ground that you are not even USING |
CCleaner gets rid of a lot of unnecessary crap.Might want to try that too.
