Fishing Cape Ann

Striper fishing has not really been that great the last couple of weeks while fishing during the day. Seems like the early morning, daybreak fishing has seemed to be the best. Did see a person catch a keeper from the shore while driving along the shore stopping to see a few brave souls on the rocks this morning.

Out on the bank there was some good bottom :fishin: for cod until the gillnetters spotted us working the area and sure enough they plastered the area with a dozen gillnet sets. Each set seemed to be a 1/4 mile long. Ban Gillnetting

Tuna fishing on the bank has been great for a few anglers if you like chasing the footballs. My friend had caught five days in a row. He had broken a rod and felt he needed bigger gear, went to the local tackle shop and had $4,000.00 worth of new gear by 10:00PM which included two rods and reels set up, took his sister out the next morning and she hooked a football. He loves his new gear.

There were plenty of humpbacks showing off last Tuesday on the northwest corner of the bank. We had a mienke circling the boat most of the morning while :fishin:
