It's a Bay Anchovie, one of False Albacore's favorite meals.

Those gummy minnow flies would look almost exactly the same. Would make a nice teaser but I'm still just throwing a plug or an eel when those are around.

these. These ones are actually big ones compared to what I saw most of the Albies eating. I did my best on small white unweighted sluggo's. Maybe 2 of the best days of fishing I ever had.

they were so small that I couldn't even believe they would waste their time chasing and eating them. Also shows how incredible their eyesight is.
The fish were so thick and boat pressure so light that everyone had their own pod or 3 and you could drift right up on them and there was no need for any additional weight to reach them. Unweighted was the perfect presentation. I even caught a few on a spook just for giggles.

It was funny as they guys using flyrods, which you would think would be able to match such a small bait, didn't do very well at all for the 3 days I was out there. Smallish rubber and then metal was the key to quantity in my observations.
