HT Metallic Overwraps
Okay... Can I use size "D" HT Metallic for overwraps on a surf rod?? Have read where some say yes... and some say no.....
Mike, Chris, Sam ??????????? Thanks guys... Bob |
you can use metallic thread as an overlay, but it's not suggested. metallic thread is not as strong as nylon or ncp thread. metallics are better suited as underlays or trims.

I agree what he said.

Can you use it as an overwrap, sure. You can use whatever you want. Would I recommend it? No I would not.

Thanks guys.......
One more rookie question checked off... 1,001 to go... Are we having fun yet????? Ohhh Yaaaaaaaaa..... |
ok here is another question from a rookie RB'er, lets say i wanted to use a layer of metallic over the ncp or nylon overwrap, would it be too bulky or would the wraps have to be perfect to keep the ncp from showing through?
what i'm thinking is to have nothing but metallic showing. |
good luck!..........u trying for that glow in the dark look?:smash:

Sure you can Gudebrod claims HT is fine for guide wraps and I have done it plenty of times. Before HT I have used a size A guide wrap in black nylon than Metallic wrap over that. You could do this with HT also.Metallic wraps look great on graphite blanks.
