Anyone ever have this happen?

Was reeling in a fish last night and grabbed the leader, when all of a sudden the fish was gone. I look down and see that there's only half of my coastlock swivel left. It was brand new (75lb) out of the package last night. I tied it before I left the house and checked all my connections before attaching my plug. So if anyone catches a striper with a yellow over white Big Howdie attached to its lip, I'm offering a reward (for the plug, not the fish).

Tough one to take.

Ya know I had this guy tell me once these Tsunamis that look like spros are the same thing just as strong....So I head tt the spot I throw on a 2oz spro lead head and some pork... bounce, bounce, bounce stick.... Yank feel a pop no pull.. Im like what then I hear click, click, click the HALF the swivel that was so effin great coming through the guides.... so yea stay away from the 100lb Tsunamis too... Split at probably 5 lbs of pull...

I don't trust those Tsunami ones either.

We bought one of those big Mann's deep diving plugs for tuna fishing two weeks ago. A 5 lb bluefish snapped both hooks.

Spros all the way for me. You get what you pay for when it comes to hardware - hooks, swivels, clips -cheap out and you'll be spending more money in lost plugs than what you saved on the swivel.

yup, stay away from the small ones as others have mentioned. the welds are too small to be reliable.

Had it happen but only on older plugs.

I was tying a few leaders last night.I've heard about the tsunami's and never had a problem.I was tying a improved cinch knot with 5 turns in 60 or 65lb mono and well before the knot cinched the new swivel popped in two.Next trip to the shop I will get some bigger swivels.Reminds me last order @ SWE I did order a 50 pack of spro swivels but they were out and I forgot after that.Like we needed any more proof the tsunami's were no good.

most definitely you get what ya pay for.
