Historic USGS Topo Maps
1 Attachment(s)
This site is pretty cool to check out old USGS Topo maps dating back to the 1800's http://docs.unh.edu/nhtopos/nhtopos.htm
I found this old map pretty interesting..... |
Wow - that is something.
And you are just half the size you are now... |
Yeah, 4,000 houses later :rollem:

Speaking of history, the Dunkin' Doughnuts in Charlestown has some cool beach photos from the early 1900s. One in particular is the C'town Breachway in 1905. Have the Breachways been around for that long? It shows that big rock in front of the west jetty. Looks exactly the same as today.

The 1889 topo of c-town doesn't show any structures http://docs.unh.edu/RI/chrl89se.jpg

I thought they built the Beachways in the 1950s. I gotta do some research. I think the photo is a sham.
