Snow Blowers...
 

Anyone recently purchase a new snow blower? I'd like to pick one up and I'm looking for comments / reviews.

Don't know much about snowblowers but if your like me about the time you buy one the tulips will start breaking, water temp. 50*, grass getting greener by the hour, earliest spring on record sooooooo.........hurry up and buy one please!!! :D

Toro snow blowers Rule. We have one thats 20" wide (gas mix). Used to have an eco, the thing often got clogged "pain in the*%~ "

Snowblowers, finally a topic that I know something about!

The current Ariens 824 ( http://www.ariens.com/products/sno/932101/ )that you can buy at Home Depot and everywhere else (if you can still find one!) for $999 has been de-contented from the earlier 724 and 824 Ariens machines that are sold at lawn & garden equipment stores.

The Toro 824 ( http://www.toro.com/home/snowthrower...throw/824.html )is a nice machine for $999 too; again, if you can even find one.

The Husqvarna 8024 ( http://www.husqvarna.com )is a pretty nice machine too. It has been redesigned for 2002 and is also around $999. I had a '95 model at my old house in Lynn and then sold it to my brother-in-law, it's still running strong for him.

If you want to get in to some serious iron, you might look at the commercial models from Simplicity ( http://www.simplicitymfg.com/p_comm.html ). These are made in Wisconsin where they know something about snow! I have the Simplicity 860DLXE, it's pricy for a 24" machine, but it has a lot of features that the cheaper machines don't.

Depending on where you live, you may want to stick with whatever your local lawn & garden equipment dealer carries. Service is just as important as price. Try your local Snapper or John Deere dealer too.

I second the Toro, i've had a 824 for like 8 years now and it still starts first pull.

I have one of them little craftsman snowblowers. it's not that big but it never gets clogged- and it's SO EASY to work on!

It's self-propelled, Has Pull and Electric Start and always starts.

And since it's craftsman, if it breaks/fails you get it fixed an if they can't fix you get a new one!

I have a toro lawnmower and it runs like a top. But if your looking for a small easy to use snowblower get one like this..

I almost forgot too, if you want a Tim the toolman special then you want what my dad has, an Ariens 1032....darn thing will throw water 30' :D
He does a 300' driveway with his though...

My Dad still has his Ariens 8 hp. from 1980 and still uses it. He finally added an electric starter to it about 6 years ago. Those things are tanks.

I decided on an Ariens. I just took it "for a spin" and widened the driveway and access road. Works like a champ!

Now... I hope I never have to pull it out of the garage! ;)
