I have an old house that's late 1800s. I'm convinced that they built a still before they broke ground.. Everything is half assed and nutso no matter where I start... I replaced some windows a few years ago, I had to reframe the openings, there were no headers ... on a load bearing wall. I was so wicked happy....not.....

Our current understanding of physics doesn't allow for time travel into the past...the future is a different matter!

i am sore from ripping off the temp roof and re-installing 3/4 inch boards similar to what was used originally

tomorrow is the tough part because it involves a valley that's going to be tricky to fix and it's flashed with copper no less.

thankfully my fiend with the saw mill told me i can just take whatever materials i needed to make repairs. What a gift.

they re-roofed the place and didn't even use tar paper...

luckily for tomorrow it'll be 65 degrees.
problem was, it triggered a whole infestation of lady bugs
that like to land on your face and of course you have to make sure it isn't a hornet.

just got out of the Jacuzzi in fact because i was rather stiff.

i was working at one place Fred that was really old
and they insulated it with newspaper and farmers overalls
and a woman's corsair.

2 weeks ago i go to air start the chain saw as i bucked up lengths of slab wood .....and i was doing this time and again as i worked the pile....and the cord jams spinning the saw a 180 degrees into
my leg (not running) but with a new sharp chain, i still got a nasty cut right thru my new dungarees with just one tooth...

so that was my latest (blunder) ie  safety reminder LOL

justplugit 10-21-2009 07:03 PM

You need one of those Tin Man suits or at least a pair of chain chaps. :hihi:

Raven 10-21-2009 08:32 PM

you funny Dave......oil can - oil can ! :grins:

well, i got that son of a bitch roof rebuilt finally

had to rebuild the peak of the kitchen roof where it meets the main house as it was completely gone

that way i could stand on it to reach the rest and re-board it

it's all tar papered and secured for this weekends rain storm
next up i'll get a bundle of Shingles and finish it up

finally have a roof over my head for winter. yay !
I am sore as hell though and it's taken two jacuzzi's
to get rid of the pains....

but the worst thing was the friggan Lady bugs (hundreds of them always on your face...)
had to wear a surgical mask... brush one off and another one lands on ya....pain in the ASS
