interesting news about....

Ford Motor Co.
They are posting a 3rd qtr increase of close to 1 billion dollars.
They were also noted as being the "big 3" auto maker that DIDN'T take bailout money!

seen allot of new ford trucks recently

good for them.....:uhuh: proud American company

I'm glad that they are on the upside. I'm willing to be the Cash For Clunkers has a part in their "unexpected" increase in sales, especially considering that the Feds increased the amount of funds available for the program.

I said this from the start. I think the only reason Ford is in the position they are in is due to the hundreds of millions they make in sales to local, state and federal governments. Every town in my area uses strictly Ford vehicles, along with 90% of the State Police vehicles in New England.

With that kind of revolving door business, it would take some Enron execs to hold the company down.

On the other hand, I *do not* see a lot of people driving new Ford vehicles aside from trucks.

their truck used to have to worst fuel economy in the fleet. I know that had arrangements to use someone else's engine for their trucks. Didn't they terminate the agreement?

Would love to see a 3.0-3.5 turbo diesel pickup in the US. My Jeep is one of the last made for US consumption before the new diesel regs.
You can by diesel Jeeps if you can register them in NH, but not MA.

75 pct of world's vehicles run on diesel. Except for the US, totally crazy

Isn't it true that 80% of vehicles bought during the cash for clunkers were imports ???

I've never owned anything but a Ford.

Not sure if it was 80% but that might be close. Here's an interesting list from Consumer Reports:
Quote:

Top 10 cash for clunkers purchases

1. Toyota Corolla
2. Honda Civic
3. Ford Focus
4. Toyota Camry
5. Hyundai Elantra
6. Toyota Prius
7. Nissan Versa
8. Ford Escape FWD
9. Honda Fit
10. Honda CR-V AWD

Top 10 cash for clunkers trade ins

1. Ford Explorer 4WD
2. Ford F150 Pickup 2WD
3. Jeep Grand Cherokee 4WD
4. Jeep Cherokee 4WD
5. Ford Explorer 2WD
6. Dodge Caravan/Grand Caravan
7. Chevrolet Blazer 4WD
8. Ford F-150 Pickup 4WD
9. Chevrolet C1500 Pickup 2WD
10. Ford Windstar
Demonstrates quite interestingly where the market is headed. Top 10 trade-ins are Domestic vehicles, 2 out of Top 10 purchases are Ford with no other domestics on the list.

I had no delusion that everything he touted about was going to happen. After his inauguration, there was no expectation that he would put gas in my car, come to my house and give me a "feel good" hug, or completely reverse and fix what's wrong with this country.

My opinion of elections is the unfortunately reality we face today of having to vote for the "least bad" candidates. Prior to the choice of Palin as a running mate, I was on the line - unsure of which candidate I disliked less than the other. Choosing Palin sealed my choice though and I think the choice of many other Moderates.

I'll continue to stand by the choice I made. Am I disappointed in the outcome? Disappointed in how little "transparency" has actually occurred and the continuation of many of Bush's actions (like unnecessarily keeping documents secret)? Very. Would McCain have done a better job? No way to know.
