RI permit is a total waste of good money. You have about 3 or 4 miles of beach to run and most, if not all of it, is non-productive water.
You can walk to 99% of the productive fishing spots.
Just my opinion, but I stopped getting the permit 10 years ago.

Agreed. Stopped getting one after two years of having one. SoCo beaches are nice, but I'd rather be a half mile out off of them If I want numbers of fish. It's nice to take the family for a spin out there, I just don't see the value in one for fishing's sake.

I would say the pass is better than that - especially when taking the family out for a spin

When I lived in RI, I used to surf at Green Hill a lot. There's no gate to the beach and I used to notice tire tracks in the sand in the fall. I'm guessing this was guys fishing. Is it legal to bring a truck on the beach down there?

yup, doubling the fees :fury:....could'nt be they want less taffic on the beach with the new condos and hotel being built at WH ....not the best fishing but the wife and dog love going there.
