Feeling the power of and landing my first tuna after obsessing about it and logging dozens of hours on the water trying. Not huge, about 58", but quite amazing.

Landed it last Tuesday on what will probably be my last trip on the water this season.

FishermanTim 11-03-2009 04:24 PM

My first full season on the yak.
Logged a boatload of hours day and night on that thing, fresh and salt.
(Funny how traveling over a mile doesn't feel like it when you are having fun!)
Learning to how to use rubber frogs (day and night) with consistant success.
Getting out ON the water with minimal investment and loving it.

Bittersweet anticipation of the upcoming ice fishing season.

Looking forward to 2010!

Watching my son land his first tuna this season, 63", and for me catching more (different) species of fish than ever before in a season.

Not done yet, got to get a tog (legal size) and maybe another tuna if these wind/waves ever die down on SWC.

numbskull 11-03-2009 04:43 PM

I was hoping for one more trip, but my friends are closing up their boats.

Totally forgot: working this board and meeting several new fishing buddies. Some like boats, some don't. BTW: I've applied to join MSBA and hope to meet others in 2010.

Season ain't over, but high lite was taking my 2yr old twin grandsons
fishing for the first time.
One at a time of course. :hihi:

Worst was yesterday when i aired down to #12 and got stuck

The labor day weekend Albie feeds were the best of the season. Continued through until the beginning of October but just not quite as good as on labor day weekend. Had some silly easy days in spring on lt/fly, to many 28-36" fish to count.

memorial day massacre :)

As Always, The Cutty trip was a highlight.

Having the 1st North Shore S-B Leg and meeting some different guys from the board.

The 1st Annual Bomba Ice Fishing tourney was a blast also.

Watching my daughter catch a 4+ lb. largemouth on her own was awesome.

July LMB fishing was amazing this year....banged 3 over 5lbs and a 1/2 dozen 4lb'ers....all within 5 minutes of the house.

Caught a couple of Nice Carp earlier in the year. Gonna target these fish more often next season...a lot of fun on freshwater tackle

and on a personal note......since I didn't get out fishing the salt as much as I wanted, I usd the time to get in shape....dropped 60 lbs. and am sitting at a comfortable 192 these days.....lightest I've been since I was 19. Looking to get down to 185 and hitting the gym this winter

Fishing with my oldest son in the canal this Spring. We must have released close to 30 fish between 20-30 pounds on Memorial Day
Caught a 180# tuna on my VS 275 which was a hurting highlight.
Managed to put up a 40 for an ASA tournament in Ct. this summer to put us in the $$$.
Another 40 class fish from shore this year which helped Team Striper win the Cup again.
Lots of shooting stars, breaking fish and awesome sunrises to enhance the senses as a bonus to what is already quality time.
Lots of laughs with good friends trying to figure out where it all went wrong this season.
What I would give for another warm morning with breaking tides at the canal to ride around and BS with some of the fine members of the fishing community.Oh well....next year.

Vogt 11-04-2009 09:34 AM

1)Fished Cutty twice, Block, The Cape, and RI many, many times this year.
2)Caught a bunch of decent fish. (no monsters but I had fun)
3)Had some fun with the whole wetsuit thing
4)Learned new spots close to home and caught some good fish in them.

had a blast getting out on my buddys boat Albie fishing with good friends...

then there was this...

fishbones 11-04-2009 10:06 AM

My highlight fish wise was catching 20lb+ bass on almost every other cast on a pencil popper on Memorial day. I wasn't even planning on fishing, but my wife told me to make a few casts before we packed up the car to head home.

Also, got my son out a bunch of times fishing freshwater and he loves it. Everytime he reels in a fish he gets excited like it's the first time.

Another highlight that wasn't so much about the catching, but was fun was getting a chance to fish with RIJimmy and Spence this season.
