Shrink Wrap Part II

So with the cover-it thread, I'm curious how guys or shops shore up a boat prior to shrink wrapping, specifically interested in what I'd need to do on my T-Top. I ask because I have an opportunity to pick up a roll of shrink wrap and top of the line gun for $400, so it's likely a quick payback. Do people run strapping up and over the T-top to take some of the snow load off the shrink wrap. Anyone done there own shrink wrap? Is it a fairly easy process? Any videos out there showing the process?

Sorry for the late reply. I just saw this thread. The one thing I learned from the guys who shrink wrap my boat is that you need to brace the front and back of a T-Top with a 2X4 with a V notch cut into it. That way, even if you get a lot of snow (which I do in Northern RI) the 2X4s support the T-Top.
I'd go for the $400 and buy the gun and wrap. My wrap this year was outrageous $389.00 for an 18' CC

That is a great price. I did get a door also but they charged me an additional $35.00. I am leaving this marina as they also have been screwing me on price for my slip.

There are tons of videos on youtube. You are going to need more than just shrink wrap, a gun and a propane tank to shrink wrap your boat. Don't forget if your boat is awlgripped you MUST use pads under or you will be pretty sad come spring.

Make sure you park it out of the wind. A couple of good blows and that shrink wrap will act like a sail and eventually snap the tubing on your t-top. Been there done that. One of the reasons I don't shrink wrap any more.

Wow, did they at least offer you a cigarette after that? $9 or $10 per foot is the going rate.
