WTB hardwood sawdust
Looking for some hardwood sawdust. Needs to be free of chemicals/varnish etc. Need a garbage bag or 2. Or any ideas where i could get some.
Thanks |
Cabinet makers best hope as they would sand fresh wood or maybe a floor (re)finisher but likely has chem/varnish.
If my brother was in the area I know I could get some from him, make custom cabinets. |
haha I'll give you LOADS
COMEN GET IT it'll save me filling my dumpster |
i thought plugs were mostly ayc? looking for non-evergreen . best is oak and maple.
|
not sure I can say my dust is chem free but it is mostly hardwood = maple, cherry, mahogany or poplar
unfortunately also plywood dust so it has glue from the plys and may have some formaldehydes and also some of the ply is prefinished. good luck but I'd only be able to get you small quantities if it has to be hardwood dust only, I know guys that have timesavers and huge dust collection and deal with sanding hardwoods. |
chef, Scott thinks ayc is wimpy wood :D
did Slip say Poplar??? :hidin: |
Chef:
If Scott has what you're looking for, I can probably pick up a few bags for you, I'm down the road from him 1x a week... |
Try Thompson's Sawmill in ... Ashaway/Hopkinton??? I think... it's out near Wood River. They mill a whole bunch of oak.
|
chef I fill a 40 gallon trash bag every 1/2 hour on the big machine...all maple and birch. Nice shavings or can run it thru the collector and give you dust.
ayc :rotf2: tell me if you want the stuff i'll set it aside. Otherwise it goes in the dumpster and is not removeable once in there....I don't bag the stuff. |
Yeah , it must be chem free. Looking to use it for shiitake blocks. If bryan doesnt mind grabbing it , i would like a bag to try out salty. How big are the shavings. Thanks slip and 1dozenraw
|
Geepers whatta you guys think I sit there and inject banana oil in every piece of wood? LOL can't get any more chemical free than fresh turned FSC certified wood chef.
YOU tell me what you want for shavings. I can give you big curly stuff or I can suck it up with the dust collector and give you itty bitty sawdust. I'll be turning all weekend so you can have 10 bags if you want them :hee: Bryan you picking up at the shop or the house? |
Scott and Chef: email me
bryan_oakley at hotmail.com we'll coordinate off-site. |
could i get a bag of shavings and one of sawdust .
Thank you |
10-4 will do the sawdust is ready and will have the shavings on Saturday.
send me some pics of what you grow with it :kewl: |
There was good article in one of the local papers last week about a company on the cape that is now in the process of making firewood logs out of compressed sawdust, all hardwoods, with no chemicals. There are already being distributed to some local stores on the cape, and claim to be more efficient, higher btu rates than other hardwoods, and also a lot cleaner burn. Salty, if your producing that much dust, you might want to try to get in touch with them, and see if they would buy yours. I think the logs they are selling are in cape home centers and other local stores.

there used to be a old guy who came around and took all our sawdust but he hasn't been around in a few years. The biggest problem is storing it and keeping it dry... and keeping the hardwood stuff separate from the softwood stuff...that's why it goes in the dumpster. Friggin trash truck has a hard time winching the thing up half the time it's like a lead weight :hee:
|
Geeze...with all this demand for Salty's "Dust" I'm going to package a bunch in small plastic baggies and sell it on a corner in Worcester :rotf2:

might be worth seeing if they are interested Scott? meybe you could swap them chips for pellets?? :uhuh: |
thanks karl i'll call them later and see what they say. May not be worth it for them unless they park something here.
Chef your shavings are ready too. Gave you a nice bag of fluffy curlings. |
thanks, i will post pix when they are done.Probally wont be for a month or so though. Going to try white and gold enoki , shiitake, reishi , turkey tail and some king oysters. If you toss a few blemished larger plug bodies in to i will try to get some oyster mushrooms to grow off of them too.

haha! Bryan remind me and I'll throw a few together that'd be funny!
