New target species???
 

The effects of global warming on the oceans is becoming evident in NE waters. We are seeing resident species moving farther north in the prime fishing seasons and southern species move north into our waters, for example manatees.

I just want to be prepared with the proper tackle, plugs, and bait should the fish(?) species shown in the picture move into our area. Looks like those that fish from shore in the rocks have an apparent advantage. Any thoughts on this topic greatly appreciated. I haven't seen any Fed/state regulations preventing targeting this species.

Let's hope for a short Winter....................

a bare hook would do if the alleged species is as dumb as the namesake.
Is that a Parismaid?

Yes Parismaid is dumb but you can't assume that for all members of the species. I think this one was able to be caught on a bare hook plated in fools gold.

Can't think of a reason to ever keep one, C&R only for me.

Just take a charge card from any high-end jewelry retailer and punch a hole through one end. Attach a split ring and you're done. Don't worry about a hook - she's not about to let go. Adding weight for casting distance is also unnecessary - if you dangle it in the water, she'll smell it from 100 mies out. Don't laugh - this is how I got my ex-wife. Of course, I could never get her to spit the lure, which is one reason (among many, many others) that's she's my ex-wife.

Beast bait for that species is a one eyed eel with no hook they have been known to go on a feeding frenzy i think there is a video documenting this someplace.:rotf2::rotf2:
