Wow, i knew the 60 was a bit heavier but i didnt think it was that long. Im having second thoughts about getting the big one.

BigFish 11-26-2009 12:40 PM

I need one for the yak......think the 30 will be plenty! Mostly for controlling fish! Thanks guys!

afterhours 11-26-2009 01:07 PM

had a 60#- sold it because it was too long and heavy....

I was thinking of using a machete on those pesky bluefish in the kayak.
Not much fun when they are flopping around inside and all I'm wearing is my grape smugglers.

BigFish 11-26-2009 01:59 PM

Grape smugglers? Might have to rethink that" lets get together and fish" thing!!!!!:hidin:

Swimmer 11-26-2009 05:35 PM

I love learning new words or phrases, "grape smugglers", very good.

BigFish 11-26-2009 05:36 PM

Here is another for ya Frank! "Banana Hammock"!:rotf2:

niko 11-26-2009 07:15 PM

get the 60. then again - with the fish you catch the 15 will do.

Likely a spelling error: grape snugglers or snuggies?

Save your money and get a 50 pound rapala scale.Boga makes a great product that I think are IGFA eligable. For the sole purpose of controlling a fish yakside the 50 is perfect and the scale is pretty accurate.I sold my 30 boga last year because I really don't care what a fish under 30 weighs,if a fish bottoms out a 50;picture time.If the choice is limited to boga,60.

FishnGrega 11-26-2009 10:51 PM

other then talking about what holds your boys in place lol. What type of maintance does the boga grip need after a night in the surf? Do they rust/corrode easily?

Sea Dangles 11-27-2009 09:09 AM

WD 40 every so often

ivanputski 11-27-2009 10:40 AM

Get yourself the Cabelas brand boga... Im on my 3rd season with it.
50# scale, VERY accurate... *Very strong springs... once a fish is lipped, its is NOT slipping off while thrashing around. * Lightweight * VERY corroision resistant... I wear it clipped to my belt ALWAYS... that means its underwater for hours at a time... looks and works like the day I bought it... and for under 30$ you cant beat it... and should you happen to lose it, youre only out 28 bucks... 24 when its on sale. I'll try to find a link. (*not listed on their site.. I'll take a pic of mine... also... STAY AWAY from the berkely lippers... the spring is so weak even a 5 pound blue slips right out... RAPALA also suck due to the way the lipper opens... very narrow gap....)

Ok we can get carried away, I have a feeling this is going to turn bad.:biglaugh:
According to the urban dictionary.
Grape Smugglers, very small speedo trunks which hug the bollocks of the male wearer in a manner which makes it seem that they are "smuggling grapes " between their legs.
Often seen on European, particularly French, males.

Agreed.
He is thrilled to catch any fish.
I suppose that is all that matters.
He does get a few bass his way though.

Here is another option a few guys on SOL where advocating as "better" than a boga. Not sure if they are still available (?RISSA). Made out of nylon and SS...appear solidly constructed. Much lighter and longer than a boga. The one without a scale is 9oz,
the one with a 55lb scale is 15oz. They have a larger grab than a boga, but are manually activated and don't snatch as quickly as a boga. I have not tried them yet.

I am looking for quality so price does not bother me...Boga is $120 so no big deal......what I am most looking for is something that is not too long and the Boga 30 pound might be just what I am looking for! Thanks for all the help!

Seriously I thought about wearing a cup.
As I have reached for blues, a few have jumped in landing right between the lads. Hooks and teeth so close to making me an opera star.

BigFish 11-27-2009 01:57 PM

I just don't want you trying to slip me YOUR boga grip......if'n ya know what I mean!

MAKAI 11-27-2009 02:14 PM

No, my usual attire is classic Hawaiian surf shorts.
Aka 2na style

For sea robins, I recommend the zebco de-liar. A Boga or the like won't fit in their mouth.
