Herering

Does anybody know where I can obtain some herring jigs ?There are none to be found around Brandford CT.

JohnR 12-02-2009 08:51 AM

UR - no herring take in CT, RI, Mass. This applies to all river herring.

Even if you want to use the jigs on something else - might be hard to find. Sabiki and others different story.

You're not talking about herring imitation jigs, are you?

It was my understanding that river herring won't hit sabikis or jigs, but Atlantic herring will

I haven't done it but near my house they do catch Atlantic Herring around this time of year. They do use sabaki rigs which I believe Sports Authority (in North Haven) has. Use a small diamond jig or kastmaster on the bottom for some weight.

See article in most recent issue of OTW with respect to Atlantic Herring
