BLANK RECOMMENDATION
 

I'm looking for a 10.6 conventional to toss 2-5 oz jigs and 9 inch shads at the canal. Anything you guys really like?

Arra 126mh will do the 2-5 nicely, though a 6oz shad is more of a lob. This is by far my favorite canal jigging stick. If you are looking for something beefier, I have a 1209 allstar conventional for sale, $175.

How is it with a 2oz?

The 126 does 2oz. fine, but the 1209 doesn't even know there is anything there until 4oz.

How could I get my hands on a 126? They discontinued them.

Shops can get them as a special order with a minimum 10 blanks committment--and one of the shops that still gets them is right down the road from you--CMS Enterprises in New Bedford ;)

I am in love with my 10'6"Zzipplex Sea Raider 2. It is a one piece-two piece blank that fits your length and weight requirements perfectly. I bough my blank through Merrick Tackle and the blank is not as much as some on the internet would beleive...I paid less than 200 for the blank.

i have 2 XRA1261MH blanks if you are interested. i do agree, that these are pretty good for what you want to do, but they just weren't popular enough for lami to continue use. they are special order only now.

What are you looking to get for 1?

I did the 1209,really didn't care for how it loaded or fought fish.Not to mention an ache in the shoulder.1261 MH is ideal for your application.Seawolf builds a great stick.Also, don't forget CMS just moved next to the Foxy Lady in New Beffa,that is who built mine.

what are you using for a reels with that blank? Would the Diawa saltist 6000 be a good combo, although heavy. I'm no body builder

I guess I am old school: Lamiglas SB 121-3M. I like the fiberglass rods with braid. I finally got around to building one back for myself and was playing with it down at the local reservior a couple of weeks ago. Man those Daiwa Emblem's cast FAR! It makes for a strong walking stick along the rocks and I don't worry about breaking it if I fall and land on top of it. ;)

I had one of the 126 in conventional and wasn't crazy about it. It comes down to personal preference IMHO. Lots of guys rave about certain blanks and until you physically use it you won't be able to form your own opinion about it. Each person has a preference and no one blank fits everyone IMHO.

If you can test cast one BEFORE you buy it, you can save yourself a lot of money and head ache! BTDT !!

You don't have to believe me -> pay attention to what rods keep popping back up all the time on the buy/sell/trade boards.

If you can live with an 2 pc rod - the Lamiglas Super Surf 10' MH is very nice. It can throw the big Bombers up to 6 oz with moxie. The production rod is pretty nice - Fuji Alconites that are underwrapped and then double wrapped - they low $300s.

I'm all set with 2 pc rods as I already have a few now and have had others in the past. Test casting a blank I never heard of. As far as production rods I have a few including a recent Arra 2pc 1-5oz and a 10ft 1pc SS 2-6oz. Lami is great but their production is waaaay backed up and their factory built rods are lacking in every dept. Even with their warranty I said to myself no more factory but I would still hang with their blanks. Not trying to cause a war here. And I will also say their CS is the best around.

No, I talked to Charlie and he said they are right over the bridge next to girls who dance on poles.Sounds like a great way to kill an afternoon,check out some blanks and then pass out some dollars in exchange for friction.
