Its only 5 months or so until the big migrants return.:fishin:

Tell us what you're doing to prepare yourself physically:musc: and mentally:think: for next year

Slipknot 12-16-2009 01:40 PM

physically I am gorging myself with all kinds of desserts and foods so I can then try to lose weight in the spring.
Mentally, nothing

BigFish 12-16-2009 01:42 PM

I am with Slip! Starting double sessions tonight at the MSBA Party!!!:drool:

Canalratt1 12-16-2009 02:02 PM

justplugit 12-16-2009 02:11 PM

Still fishing this month and hope to follow them down to NC in Jan.

God willing, that will leave 2 and 1/2 months to prepare for the spring.

bart 12-16-2009 02:25 PM

started lifting hard again, but pulled a muscle in my side. once i heal up i'll be hitting the gym again. until then, i'll continue to exercise my mind :jump1:

The Dad Fisherman 12-16-2009 02:34 PM

Dropped 60 lbs this year so now I'm down to 192....gonna try and maintain through the holidays by riding the excercise bike and then hit the gym in January for some Weight Training. Once spring gets here I'm going to start walking again....was doing 5-6 miles a night this past summer/fall....then I'll be ready to rock once May gets here

luds 12-16-2009 02:48 PM

I'm actually considering practicing casting. Sounds pathetic but that's exactly how I feel everytime I go to the canal. I can outcast plenty but get outcasted by jsut as many. There are definitely times when distance counts and I really think it does there based on my limited time. Need to work on the mechanics. :uhuh:

This is what I should do, I weighed myself a couple of weeks ago on a real scale, I weigh 50#s more than I did 20 years ago. No wonder I float.

ElSluggo 12-16-2009 05:02 PM

Age and arthritis are taking their toll on my knees and ankles after a night of climbing rocks I'm sore for 2 days. My goal is to lose weight and get in shape. So far I've been back to the gym 3-4 days per week going on third week now. If that doesn't work it will mean much more kayak fishing than usual. However I am real hesitant to go out in kayak at night alone.

numbskull 12-16-2009 05:10 PM

Keep running long 1/2" drill bits through my ears and pouring battery acid in until I get the urge to fish eels again. So far all that has happened is that I want to move to Franklin and change my name to Sauerkraut. Probably I'm getting close

Tagger 12-16-2009 05:17 PM

hitting the gym ,,,cardio ,,, making some needles ..PP and especially want to make a bunch of Flaptails to fish next year in honor of our friend ..

piemma 12-16-2009 05:28 PM

I retired so I can fish whenever I want. 42 years flying 150,000 miles a year. Now ........:):chased::uhuh:

Goose 12-16-2009 05:32 PM

mentally...gonna work on loosing sleep. Gonna try and get the least as possible every night.

phisically...gonna lip 15 to 30 pound bags of fertilizer. I will also join thumb wrestling tournaments.

RickBomba 12-16-2009 06:11 PM

Been going to the gym every weekday AM, lost 15# so far (the doc is happy with me for the first time in three years!). Mostly weight training, so results are good (then again, I'm a pretty big boy, so I'm not sure if I want more bulk).

MikeToole 12-16-2009 06:16 PM

Shoulder surgery in Jan then exercise to get shoulder ready for May.

Slammer223 12-16-2009 06:42 PM

eat,drink,repeat.I can do many sets.

Zeal 12-16-2009 06:49 PM

Get back into my physical regiment again since the car accident just about a month ago, deepen my Martial Arts training and Yoga (stretching mostly) which has been long overdue.

Mentally...trying not burning my brain out on graduate school, money issues, etc. and making sure I keep myself meditating as much as possible and researching to keep myself learning. Controlling my Narcolepsy would be nice...

MAKAI 12-16-2009 07:01 PM

Throwing the Iron around, and elliptical stairs 4 or 5 days a week.

rickhern 12-16-2009 07:52 PM

Trying to rehab the shoulder and not put on much of the weight I had lost. Looking at the new ZB is keeping me very motivated.

DadFisherman - Congrats!

You too Tagger!

quick decision 12-16-2009 08:16 PM

I am going to be ok until March. Thats when the mental torture for me begins. Honestly, checking out the posts here help. I want to loose some weight and get some cardio in. Jumping all over rocks in the middle of the night is not so good for the body when your in bad shape.

Backbeach Jake 12-16-2009 08:21 PM

Fridge sprints, Twelve ounce curls, fork lifts. I'm gonna be my usual winded Spring self. Thank God I quit smoking years ago..

bloocrab 12-16-2009 08:38 PM

I know mentally I'm going to increase my lurking on here during April and May... so I can know when to start fishing. I figure the 6th or 7th thread may be a good indicator as the first few are usually ...:banano:....or....:bs:

Meanwhile, physically?? I'll be chasin' my 1yr old around as he's finally finding his legs... :morons:

striperman36 12-16-2009 08:40 PM

rehab after my partial knee replacement. Down 12 lbs since 11/23 day of surgery.

X-C ski and do dog pulls on skii's until my shepherd passes out

JohnnyD 12-16-2009 08:46 PM

Winter months mean it's gym time. Focusing on business and my health before the Spring comes and I go back to sleepless nights, snack food/Redbull for meals and living as a drifter out of my car.

ivanputski 12-16-2009 09:57 PM

to prepare for the next season, I try to forget about fishing all together... just stop thinking about it and refresh... then come back more excited than ever... even junkies fall deeper after trying to quit...
