i was pretty good back in the day Bill
a professional was gonna teach me and i out shot him 23 out of 25. he shot a 19..... man was he pissed..... i shot both doubles as they crossed. I GOT TRAINED with the idea that you never know when those ducks were gonna come flying in ........... so i learned to shoot kneeling, sitting and even laying down on my back , where ya say - pull - grab your gun ( LAYING BESIDE YOU) and SHOOT FAST. but its been ages....... and i only have an antique 20 gauge now. |
Not anymore. After having a pin and some screws inserted into my right arm via the shoulder I was never able to shoot a shotgun comfortably again.
And honestly I was never very good at it anyway.Actually I sucked. |

PM the Shocker, stripadan, and the Specialist for starters. Fishweewee shoots everything, but he is a little too far south.

I have beefier gear but it just dosen't get used that much because I can only cast with it for so long before I start getting sore. I also have really bad knees also.I guess that's why I've taken to fishing quieter backbay areas where there are more schoolies and smaller keepers.I still catch fish without killing myself. That's not to say I don't fish ocean facing areas for large I just don't do it as much because it takes way to much out of me. |

I do mostly trap shooting. Done some skeet but found trap a little more fun. Getting into sporting clays now in petersham. Now THATS a trip!!
Google skeet clubs in mass. Can't remember the site but it gives a ton of info about clubs. I shoot at eight point in sterling. Good luck...very addictive! Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |

i only know of minuteman in bedford who allows you to roll up and use their voice commanded machines any day. but it's like 400 or so to join, plus paying per round you shoot. |
I shot sporting clays(I guess) at LLBean one year. Paid like $22 bucks for a lesson and shot one of their $1000+ guns with all the engraving on it. Definitely worth taking those introductory courses if you ever get up to Freeport.
I did really good at anything coming towards me or away from me , even at an angle I shot 100% but the ones going purely sideways I found it took some getting used to. I'd say I was 50/50 on them. The instructor said I was obviously a target shooter and that for the sideways shots you sort of had to have a general picture and track the target , you couldn't site right down the barrel like you would shooting a rifle with sites at a target. reminded me of the difference between shooting a compound bow with site pins vs shooting a long bow. |
Duck Hunting Story
One day out on the salt marsh
i am duck hunting and i am on the inside of a tree area that blocked a lone duck from seeing me... i hear the whistling of wings from way off having phenomenal hearing :) so...i wait and wait...still no duck..... Finally there he is and by the time i got a bead on him i was actually leaning backwards and squeezed off a shot... that duck was tumbling and fluttering down so i laid down the gun and started running like an idiot trying to intercept the duck thinking i could catch it  right out of the air like a Thom Brady long bomb pass :uhuh: what the hell was i thinking????? that i was Randy Moss  i get to where its coming in for a landing i have my hands ready for the catch and at the very last second i said (thought) no friggan way dude and the duck smashes into the marsh with a huge loud thud ! i easily would have broken my wrists or hands. that was the last time i ever tried something so Dumb, :smash: but it was one hell of a shot. :grins: |
