Ice Cube Tax

:smash:

only in MAssaTaxit

notice in mail...
If you are selling bagged ice, you must deem what "use" the custumer is buying it for...

if is to ice down cantianed beverages of food in a cooler, you must charge the custumer sales tax on the bag of ice.
If the custumer is going to use the ice cubes in a glass to chill the beverage, than you do not have to charge sales tax on said ice.

WTF... I gotta ask everybody what they intend to do with the ice?

this state is whacked... I told my boss... this is easy..
cubes... no tax... everybody is gonna use them for mixed drinks.. or at least say so, once they figure this out...

blocks... charge the tax...i guess... altho, you could tell me you are going to chip it and put the chips in your highball...

Honest to God... Beacon Hill trying to reach deeper into our pockets all the freakin time....

I truly despise all elected officials, regardless of office, political affiliation, gender or race, or species!!!!... from the local town hall, to the statehouse to washinton dc itself....time to keelhaul them all!

in that case... I think you would have to fill out the proper forms an pay FET (dingle johnson tax, or Wallpo -Breaux tax)...as it would fall into some kind of fishing tackle category....

That is truly unreal.

Everything's believable these days.

I don't think this is anything new--I think it's just the Department of Revenue sending around a "clarification" of what's taxable and what's not. If I'm not mistaken, I've always been charged sales tax when I've bought a bag of ice from most of the tackle shops around here. Also when I've bought it from the quick-mart type places.

Most people don't even look at their Stop&Shop register receipt to see what they've been charged tax on ;)

You go into Red Top and buy a pair of ankle boots--no tax--they're considered shoes and clothing.

Waders--tax--they're "fishing tackle".

:smash:what If I am going to use half the bag for the cooler and the other half for my drinks?

Next thing is going to be the Federal Air We Breathe Tax !!!
It's going to be part of the Obama Socialist health care plan.
Every american will need to have a surgery for lung intake sensors so they can gauge the amount of air each of us take in & out !

Mike, I have been selling ice, cubes and blocks, for over 30 years...never charged sales tax..
we was always told, if you can eat it, drink it, or wear it, you can't tax it...

this is just as offensive as the new sales tax on booze in this state, at least to me...
you guys buying boose already pay a hefty excise tax, both state and federal...
(add them together it averages out at about 42 % of retail price!)
and your lovely senators and reps made the push to charge another 6 and a 1/4 percent sales tax, on top of that tax... taxing the tax as it were...

and now they want to make sure to tax frozen water...

bull freakin s hit!!!

they is theives...period.

and the irony of it all, is they cannot account for where or what the new increases in sales tax has gone...

Beacon Hill is so corrupt, but....Nothing New there....

It may be part of their crackdown of "bad ice cube" syndrome that a lot of these politicians come down with during the height of the "Holiday DIU season".

You know, when they claim is must have been some "bad ice" in their soda that made them drive like that, because they would NEVER driver under the influence!

They are ALL nothing more than a bunch of horses' a$$es, and as my younger brother says:"If I met theem on the street, I'd spit in their face!"

Tagger 12-28-2009 02:30 PM

We elect these idiots to problem solve and they come back with this . Most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of .. Well close .. If you get pulled over,, don't take the breathalizer if you've just brushed your teeth .. NOT !!! :smash:

Just tell all your customers that they are not buying this ice for coolers, rather they cannot live without this wonderful ice in their Hi-Balls. Then you can shove it up Cadillacs ass.
