Pt. Jude Tin help!
 

Well I managed to get some money for christmas and I have very little concerning the tins department.

SO! With that said I have had my eye on the Pt. Jude Tins for awhile but unsure which to get. I fish early morning, typically an hour before sunrise through to early morning. The only tins in the bag I have are an old silver hopkins and an Atom Shag-N-Shad along with the standard few diamond jigs with and without tubing, and the Gold Pt Jude Cobra (at the time the water was messy from a tropical storm set and eels were everywhere yet not a tap on it go figure).

Without any fights or debates, what Pt. Jude Tins have served you guys the best consistently? Recommendations?*NOTE* I am in the process of condensing my surf bag to contain all my "go to" lures so that's why I ask that question.

Ive killed em on the nautilus, both in the silver and black color. Pretty much all of the Pt Judes have produced at one time or another. Cast and retreive.

Nautilus is more geared to sand eels no?

The butterfish should, sea scallop, and nautilus should be automatics. I would recommend getting a few sizes/weights of the butterfish.

The 2 1/2 oz. Nautilus and the 1.5? oz. and 2 oz. Butterfish?

I did really well last year with the 3.5 (I think) oz. Hammer and Groove. Got my first Bass of last season on one, on the first cast. I was actually afraid it was going to jinx my whole year.

The little Po-Jees are a good sand eel imitation too.

The nautilus to me is more geared towards small herring not so much sand eels. They are a wider profile, made a good imitator of the pollack that were cruising the canal a few times this summer/fall. Just an all around imitator of a bait fish.

Couldn't have said it better myself. That butterfish has has averted several skunkings for me

You can't go wrong starting out by picking up a PJ Pocket Pack. Then, you can supplement from there. Also, I've had some luck with the black 1 1/4 oz. Cobra fishing sandy beaches at night.

Go to some of the fishing shows this winter and stop at the Point Jude booth. The PJ guys are great and will point you in the right direction without putting the hard sell on you.

Good point. Start with the pocket pack! Completely forgot about that. Get some tattoo plugs from SRI or the Swedge while your at it. :jump1:

You guys are killing me haha. There are 3 pocket packs! Which would you say to go for?

They make one pocket pack for tuna and I think they used to make one with smaller lures. I remember using some of the smaller tins for funny fish. The pocket pack you probably want is the one below.

I can't say enough about the Po-Jee.It is by far the most productive tin I have ever used.I have all sizes/colors with me at all times.

Joe,any plans for a gold Po-Jee in the works?

Umm the hammered tins I have are 4.5 oz... ( I THROW CONVENCH) The next on is 7oz then 9oz lol so watch out for them... Just a word of warning... The butterfish and black nights??? work well

Hm, well I went to the toy store today and they have quite a few different styles of the Po-Jee. They have the basic Po-Jee with just the white dressed hook, the hook with a spinner on it, and others with colored tubing.

Which Po-Jee are you guys referring to? The basic one?

Most of the time people are referring to the regular PoJee with the bucktail on it,although the tube tail was very popular in Jersey in the fall, with the sandeels in abundance. If you are going to the Esat Bay Anglers show this Sunday, come see me at my table in the cafeteria and we can talk.

I'm actually referring to all styles of the Po-Jee.But the basic with the bucktail is the one I've had insane success with.

The butterfish are great,especially when there are peanuts around.The basic PoJee will outcast just about anything,and fish dig it.:)
