i am looking to see what most people use for swivels.
Wanted to know if people use stainless steel vs. black brass and if most use ball bearing or regular barrel swivels.
What manufactureres do you like?

I've always used the black Spro Power Swivels.

Krok swivels, all stainless

I seldom use swivels anymore. The rare times I use them I like the spro with the coastlock snap attached to the swivel. IMO you really only need a swivel on a spinner or when you expect frequent lure changes when you use the snap swivel.

Spro or Krok for swivels, which ever brand has the better price when i am looking...
Ball bearings are a PIA in saltwater...

I am partial to Crosslock's by Berkley... PIA to find the right size when ya need it... I also use Rosco Coastlocks they work with no complaints..

really only snap i have had problems with is the Duolock... for some reason i have had a few of these deform on me...

i never had any luck with the duolock either. too hard to open with cold fingers anyway. i like the BB swivels with a coastlock snap. why do you say they are a PIA in saltwater? i like to use a size 3 or 4 BB stainless coast lock. they have a breaking strength of 75 and 100 pounds respectfully. There has never been a time that this has broken, even when casting from jetties.

Spro swivels only when I fish eels. And Breakaway clips best thing out there IMO.

I fished them hard when i was throwing tins... they would not take the abuse... a pack of 12 would last me all but maybe 2 weeks... and at i think they were $10.

End result would be a non-swiveling swivel...
The larger ones were ok but not when the blues arrived.... blues love to target shinny things.

maybe they have come a long way from 5-7years ago but i'm happy with spro's and kroks...

Generally a fan of Spro. Low profile and strong. Haven't failed one yet.

Really prefer ones that aren't loaded questions or sale pitches :love:

Spro's here too....

80 lb spro for all surf fishing... they are very small, so its not too bad when you accidentally reel it through the 1st guide...

don't use swivels on conventional reels, but breakaway clips rule. On spinning, krock or spro..:fishin:

change them out often no matter what brand, don't risk corrosion. these are a lot cheaper to toss than the spro or krok!
