Im new , so apology if this is in the wrong thread...

Could someone please fill me in on the difference between the 2 reels . Had a look at thse specs , they seem the same to me . Not much experience in the smaller reels like these , the smallest I have owned is an Accurate Boss 665 2 spd , want to go down further . Been hunting for a 301 dsv , not had much luck , and a mate said why not a 301e they are a current model . We ONLY fish salt water for snapper , kahawai ( a bit like a sea run salmon up to 5kg), and the odd kingfish ,basically a kahawai on steroids to 15 kg , go like a torpedo but they are rare and although the initial run is BLISTERING they run out of puff after the first 30-40m of line . Would be really grateful for some help here , regards Hans :

Welcome aboard! This thread is in the correct forum. I'm unfamiliar with these reels, but give it a little time and I'd expect someone to enlighten you.

Have you looked into the avet sx?? It's built like a tank.

I believe ( at least here in the US) that the Curado DSV has been discontinued and replaced with the Curado 300E. Basically the same. Very nice reels. the difference is that the Curado is a low profile baitcaster and the Calcutta TE is a round frame higher profile and more line capacity. Both excellent reels. The TE will probably be roughly double the price of the Curado though.
Ooops. I misread your post. I thought you mentioned the TE. To your question, as I posted before the 301E is the new version of the DSV.

Hi thanks for the comments . The problem I have Nebe is the way I fish , and bear in mind we are sea fishing , my fingers are too short to reach the centre of the spool to control the tiny indicator nibbles from the 10 lb snapper . The little Pan size are not a problem , you just throw the bait in the water , they eat it ,you wind up , end of story The bigger ones are a different story altogether . As we are in New Zealand , and no Tackle supplier wants to invest in such a relatively small market the Avets do not exist here . I imported a new sx6/3 from a guy in the US . The drag was assembled incorrectly (washers/spacers in the wrong orders) and after one time fishing it never ran smooth . Took it apart and 2 of the spool shaft bearings are stuffed ) . The fellow in Peak Point is (hopefully ) sending me the replacement bits . Its a bugger I hope someone can tell me the difference between the 2 , because reading the specs there does not seem to be a clue . What worries me is that the new model is CHEAPER . The stuff normally gets dearer !! Anyone got either the 301dsv or a 301e to shed light ??

I have a 300E and love the reel. Casts nicely. Very controlable. Good drag system. I would have no problem recommending this reel to anyone. :uhuh:
