Sampo Stay-Lok Snaps

I am sure you have your reasons for seeking those DZ......I prefer the Break Away clips......I believe those types of snaps/clips have too many points available to fail where the Break Away, if tied on correctly has only one.....the fisherman's knot. Just my .02 cents.

Thanks Bigfish. I've used the Break Away snaps. I'm just old school and looking for an improved CoastLock snap. I just haven't seen these new Stay-Loks anywhere yet.

I would try them but they always come with a swivel attached which I don't want/need. I want just the snap.
I have had a breakaway style open up as well. Nothing is perfect. I use the breakaway only because of easy of use to change lures which I do often. I try not to overstress them. I wish spro would make a snap without a swivel. I think those would be the strongest. The wire they use is really strong but just don't "bend" it to the point of deformation when opening. It will snap! I am convinced you can not open a breakway IF the knot stays at the bottom of the bend AND the lure does not get fouled on the snap. When this happens, it will bend open fairly easy and stay open. |
I don't know if you've seen them yet, Dennis but Alberto had his new Tactical Angler clips at the EBA Show and I picked up a pack to give 'em a try
They're a lot stouter than Breakaways - which I was never a big fan of - and snap onto bucktails and tins much more easily The only downside is that I wish they were anodized or dipped black...:( Take a look, anyway - although I know how you old guys are about your gear Hell, I oughta - I am one...:hihi: |

I have been using them for the last 2 years and like them a lot. Sizes 3 & 4 I got mine at Gander Mtn, so that might be another source for you. Bernzy |
