Where the warm days making you want to go boating?
With the warm day today and the one last weekend, I was itching to go out on the boat. I think next falls lay up I might have to forgo the shrink wrap and go with a tarp, so I can better take advantage of a mid-winter boat ride "fishing" trip.
Well at least I was able to play inside under the shrink wrap today for an hour, almost as good. Getting ready for my spring projects. Windless for the anchor, and removal of all the monkey fur in the cabin, and then painting over the fiberglass. What projects are you planning before spring boating? |

I agree I use a tarp garage so I can get in and out easier
I plan to be out end next month early March weather permit I was playing with scuba gear and fish tackle today onboard It will be nice if we get a early spring this year to make up for Last years year long washout |
I have been thinking the same!
But I am going to start the complete rewire on mine 3/1 and I have to install a new to me Yamaha 4 Stroke. Lots of work this spring, but hope to be ready for 4/1?? we will see how all goes and is we get a spring this year? |
Hooligans that's a really nice cover. Where do you get something like that and what is the cost?
|
That semi garage thing is sweet! I was sketching up building a permanent 20x40 boat garage on a slab but I can see this is going to cost me some real money. What is that thing and how big can you get them? Do you take that down or leave it up all summer as well?
I looked around they don't seem to make them that big but I like the idea (esp if you have the space) for CC's. Drive in Drive out. |
ClearSpan Solarguard Round Style Storage Master Buildings - TekSupply
I have one from clear span that I have used for years. It lets you extend the season on both sides. Warm sunny days I can work inside it with a t shirt on. 14 x 14x 28 is $2800 on this site. I know I paid a lot less 5 years ago. Only $1400. I use it year round. It sits on a floor of crushed stone. Next best thing to a wood garage. |
To be honest
My brother in-law got it for me BJ wholesalers about 7 years ago I had an “A” frame one before but it’s not as good for snow As “what my wife calls” the chuck wagon look..LOL Love that girl…No not really…LOL But I am looking for a new one I have found this site Temporary Building - Utility Building - Equipment Storage - Storage Shed It’s in MDM Products LLC 105 Woodmont Road Milford CT 06460 Will probably check them out And might go there to get it and save shipping cost of $246.00 Seeing that it is close Ill pay myself the $246.00 for a Saturday |
I might have to get of of these tents fro MDM, for the cost of 3 seasons of shrink wrapping, it would pay for itself.

2 important things about it!
1) Ventilation with the heat/cool of a day it will rain inside due to condinsation. I added house type ridge vents to the ends. Just had someone hold blocks of wood on the inside and screwed through into it. then cut the material out. Cheaper then getting the one's they offer. Little crushed stone inside helps too. 2) Anchor it down In the heavy winds even though mine weighs in just over 1,100 lbs it moves. I put dog anchors into the ground and then use jack straps to hold it. |

I agree!! Thats why I used 3/4 crushed stone Although I havnt had really a problem I also use my Boat cleats to tie to inside supports To hold down down garage though winter or heavy winds All and all it works great and it allows you to work on boat In any weather |
