Fluke Blank?
Need opinions on the following question!!
would the Batson/Rainshadow SWS60MH work well for a fluking rod? |
American Tackle M701 rated 1-3 oz or the 701 M rated 3/4-2
|
i've built several of the sws70m and like it as did the customer. i would consider it more of a "bay fluke" rod, with it's range being 1/2 oz - 3 oz jigs/rigs. it's a nice match for a 6500 type reel.

I use St Croix F70M-BK 7' rod 3/4 to 3oz line wt. 10-20. I have now got 4 of these that I built and I love them for Fluke. I have Penn Squider 146's on them with 30# spider wire (6 # dim) I would not change a thing!!
Good luck with what ever you chose Macojoe |
reason I asked
was because I found them online in a closeout but after researching its not that big of a savings. For the record the blanks were available for $20 each but with $13.00 for shipping it wasnt the bargain it appeared to be!!

the cost of the St.Croix is up there about $40.00 But I love it.
Macojoe |
The sws60mh is one of the rods I made for the raffle. I made it as a boat/spin to plug the likes of the X-mass tree & Bird #^^^^& rock. As a Fluke rod its good if your fishing kinda deep, shorter water i'd go with Mikecc or Macojoe's recommendations.
I will second Macojes thoughts on the FM70BK from StCroix. I have 2, one conventional the other spin both are exceptional rods and tough as nails. I also made the 9 ftr in the same series as a conventional, again a great rod. I beat the crap outa it and seems to say back to me is that all you got? If they talk to me am in trouble? Chris |
