suggestions?

I've been a walmart special fisher for some years now. I need help on my wish list that uncle sam is helping me fullfill. I need distance, a stiff tip  and I cast light swimmers-heavy plugs. I like the lamiglass' but not too sure about the reals. strictly stripers, fishing the R.I shoreline. I live in Narragansett and need a fishing buddy too if anyone is interested, sick of fishing alone

paul, i would go with a lami gsb1201m. the factory rod is (i think) the XS 10 MHS. great rod i toss anything from bombers to 3.5oz plugs. i also sling eels with the rod and some have said it is one of the best eel rods out there. for a reel i would go with a quantum cabo, imho best bang for you buck reel out there. i would also look around for a 706z true tank just pack her with grease. as far as a fishing buddy i would be glad to join you for some casting sessions up in gansett when spring rolls around, i am a hope skip and jump right down in westerly

thanks thumper, I will keep you in mind and try and contact you through here in April?/May? I will look into the gear that you suggested and I thank you for taking the minutes to fill me in. I am totally stoked about getting a "real" set-up and cant wait to try them out. I think I will start in the next couple weeks.
