Trailer Reg $$$$

Just went to renew my boat trailer registration and noticed it went from $53 last year to $80 this year!!! :wall: What is everyone else paying?

Also noticed I have been registering it for 4000 lbs. I tow a 20' boat. Is this right? @ $20 per 1000 lbs is this to much?

striperman36 03-08-2010 08:04 PM

Ouch. I have to do it too, they don't send you notices for trailers anymore

Foul Hooker 03-08-2010 08:06 PM

When I had my 20 ft AquaSport last yr the trailer registration was $100.. I thought that was very high!

Raider Ronnie 03-08-2010 08:43 PM

Just another one of "Coupe Deval's" accomplishments as our F$$$ing leader in the state of Ma. !

macojoe 03-08-2010 09:49 PM

yep, 4000# $80 for me too

gf2020 03-09-2010 11:15 AM

It is now $20 per 1000 pounds of gross weight. So if you have a trailer that is rated to carry 5000 pounds and the trailer weighs 1000 pounds, you will now pay $120 per year.

MrHunters 03-09-2010 12:57 PM

80 to me too.. sooo awsome!

FishermanTim 03-09-2010 02:19 PM

I don't feel bad that I didn't opt for a boat but a kayak instead.
At first it was the fuel issue, but now with the state's aggressive tax & fee system (tax and fee us to death, and then tax our cold dead bodies on top of that!) it now makes me feel like I made a smart choice. (That is , smart for me.) I do feel your pain, since we as a state are paying more for the previledge you pay for more state hacks. I wouldn't be as bitter if the fees we pay actually went where they are supposed to, but I guess I'm just naive to think the state would actually do ANYTHING the way it was supposed to be done?

I,ve tried contacting a couple of reps and they got right back to me,Tried Sen. O,Leary and never got a response.
Tried the little leader in the big chair and no response.
Think about it from 8 dollars per thousand lbs to 20 dollars per thousand lbs.
That's 250% no mater how you look at it.

Swimmer 03-12-2010 07:41 PM

Have you guys checked on whether you need to get your trailer inspected? Other types of trailers have too now.

Swimmer 03-12-2010 07:45 PM

Its been $20.00 for every thousand pounds now for awhile hasn't it been. And besides, you still probably are not registering the trailer for the maximum GVWR of the trailer, which is what your suppose to register it for. If you under register weight rating wise and have a problem of some sort it could spell trouble. But that is hardly ever checked anyways.

SurfCaster413 03-13-2010 01:50 AM

you guys with the commerical plates and running a business definetly need dot inspecptions only if truck and trailer are over 10,000lbs. Am in the landscaping business and was inforned today that I no longer use spouted gas cans. Must be metal or spout retracts inside container. thank you mr patrick!

Sgt_Nutz 03-13-2010 03:40 PM

Checked trailer GVWR is just under 4000 so $20 x 4 = new drapes for Deval...

still....$80 TAX for a trailer that I might take back and forth to the ramp maybe 20 times over less than 6 months of the year just seems excessive.

Raven 03-13-2010 04:48 PM

great F-Tim

i better leave Deval a message to create a Kayak tax this weekend since he obviously missed it.

STRIPERSHAWN 03-14-2010 08:23 PM

i went from 120 last year to 160 this year, just sent reg into to registry, at 20.00 a thousand that would put me at 8000 lb sounds high, i have a 5 star 4800lb trailer pulling a 23 ft parker sc does that sound right, and if not how can i change the gross wieght of the registration ?? thanks shawn from ludlow mass

Raven 03-15-2010 07:13 AM

but on a serious note

this specific thread

has allowed me to plant the seed
in the wife's concious mind
over the weekend

that a Kayak is a wiser investment
than a large boat due to the
increasing costs of registrations.
