Just finished these up...some conrad jr's, a slopehead, and a giant that weighs about 3.95 without the hooks...rigged up its about the same as a giant pikie...

Bunch of cool stuff waiting in the wings too, will get the pics up once painted.

Leave it to an eel guy to be into slasher porn. What did you do to that poor white one......or did that happen while making the tail loop? ;)

Too much coffee causes me to twitch uncontrollably, causing open wounds, trashed gear, and not so common paint schemes.

Slipknot 03-11-2010 06:39 PM

Good Stuff Mike
you seem to understand plugs very well and you catch on fast to how they are made.
I bet you have a lot of fun fishing those:uhuh:

After much thought, I've decided to call that paint scheme "JTR" or Jack the Ripper :uhuh:

Yes, they're Salty's conrad jr lips.

I also have a couple 7.5" conrads primed right now. They're not technically SR's because they're skinnier and are going to take the jr lips....maybe I'll call them conrad sr slims...

The Dad Fisherman 03-12-2010 08:49 AM

That Slope Head doesn't look like it belongs....I'll take it and give it a good home :hee:

Seriously though.....Those do look sweet.

Nice ,, todays bait patterns,, (few pogies) Most would say "slim is in "... That lip really digs ,, very interrested how that turns out ... still giant chunk of lead in the belly and hydro to ward off roll out .. I think your on to something .. a deep slim ..

I put .5 in the belly and the finished plug will be around 2.5 oz, which may be a little on the light side, but we'll give it a go in the canal first before I change anything.

Pretty sure I put .250 in the conrad jrs so .5 in the bigger one should be ok, we'll see.

I also have some big 8" slope head canal divers I'm almost done with and they have about .750 in the belly and go right down without any roll.:uhuh:

They're like this one in the pic and weigh about 3.85 oz all finished and rigged.

They really look great, Mike. You'd never know you just started building from the quality of your work. You definitely have a knack for it.
