Farewell to Flaptail: Steve Shiraka Remembered
 

I just read Farewell to Flaptail: Steve Shiraka Remembered in The Fisherman. I did no know Steve Shiraka personally, but I was really moved by the article.
"At it's highest, fishing is a means to connect to the natural world, to each other, to those who preceded us, and to those who will follow. If connection is an act of love, fishing becomes the same. Steve got to that level and he enriched our lives because of it."

I did not know Steve was a S-B member. I am not sure if we have a S-B Hall of Fame, but I would like nominate the handle "Flaptail" for retirement. All in favour, say "I". All opposed, say "Nay".

Yes, Steve was a member here for years, posted five something thousand times as Flaptail, and was votes (honored dare I say?) by his peers as S-B Angler of the Year for 2009.

I'm glad I had the chance to get to know him and the chance to fish with Steve many times. He's definately a Hall of Famer in my book.
