MORE RAIN !

Weather is calling for more flooded basements !
Can't imagine having to go through whats been shown on the news from a few weeks ago and now before anything can dry up more flooding on the way !

JamesJet 03-29-2010 07:02 AM

I saw the forecast and it just put a pit in my stomach. I am so sick of the rain.....my basement (and mental state) cant take it!

striperman36 03-29-2010 07:16 AM

3-6 inches in store through Wednesday

stripermaineiac 03-29-2010 07:25 AM

The river and my back yard are becoming one. Gonna turn my driveway into a launch ramp at this rate. Ron

Last storm wasn't bad for me ... no water .. We kept getting little breaks in the down pour ,,, enough to run off ... If it's non stop like before that we're screwed ..:fury:

I shored up my shop by doing a little prevention....

... the basement/shop has flooded 5 times in a 30 year period.. twice in the last two weeks...
Last sunday, I cut the floor and installed a pump.. ran 50' of drainage pipe( under ground) out back for the pump to empty into...

this should be much more effeciant than the swimming pool cover pump and shop vac I used in the last battle...

I really feel for some of those folks.. for some, there isn't a pump big enough to stop the water from ruining their basements and in some cases their houses...

stripermaineiac 03-29-2010 08:07 AM

I'm thinkin of sellin my mower and gettin a motor for my kayak LOL

ProfessorM 03-29-2010 08:11 AM

Crazy weather. Earliest ice out on Lake Winnipesaukee since records were kept, No snow in March in Michigan since records were kept. Are we in for a long hot summer or another rain out like last year?

piemma 03-29-2010 08:51 AM

I heard on the Weather Channel this morning that some places in the Hudson Vally could get up to 9 inches!

No obscene jokes now!

Gotta love the sandy soil of the Bournedale hills :uhuh:

Soaks up 5" of rain like Speedi-Dry.

Saltheart 03-29-2010 11:14 AM

Lets hope all this rain means no water shortages in July and August.

I'm worried about it being another wash out as well...

Incredible!!

I feel fortunate to not have to worry about flooding where I am, but I drove past a pond today that looked really close to coming up to the street level. Crazy!!!

Raven 03-29-2010 01:33 PM

next weekend -no rain- for a change....

fish are here early .....i keep hearing

FishermanTim 03-29-2010 02:27 PM

Let's not forget that with all this rain/flooding, we;ll soon be dealing with a tremendous mosquito population.
Keep in mind that there will be pools of water for the little bloodsuckers to reproduce in the billions.
I'm going to put up a bunch of birdhouses. Our feathered friends do a good job on skeeters during the day. I would like to put up a bat house (or 2) but I don't know if we have bats in our area.
I look for them when I'm out in the yard during the warm months, but I haven't seen one yet.

I am planning on a couple of water gardens in large containers, and if the mosquitos want to lay their eggs there, they'll just be feeding the fish that will be there too!

Keep dry!

Yes there are definitely bats in the area, I see them routinely around my house. The numbers are not large and I find them difficult to attract to a bat house. Neighbors and I each have had vacant houses for years. Maybe there is a trick to getting them to taking up residence I haven't learned yet.

baby ducks eat the s h i t out of mosquito larvae
~
tossin a dunks doughnut from "home depot" can wipe
out mosquito breeding areas that are larger quite easily

tattoobob 03-29-2010 03:37 PM

I had to work outside all day, and tomorrow too, I was soaked to the bone, I just hope we get a somewhat dry summer

Raven 03-29-2010 03:39 PM

bats

as i have recently learned travel vast distances
in the jet stream in large flocks

much like migratory birds so if you don't see them
that means nothing

PRBuzz 03-29-2010 03:52 PM

Even the night crawlers are waving the white flag.....:pop:

massgc 03-29-2010 04:58 PM
