never made it, wife bought me a canoe I had been looking at so I ended up doing some freshwater. was a good day though. 5 fish on the fly rod. nothing worth bragging about though

Christian 04-13-2010 06:51 PM

i went out on sunday. nada. skates. checked the usual spots.

i don't think the bite really opened up till the end of the 1st week of may last year. according to my log, and that was on hospital. and i did get a few before that by like a week or so off deer.

Are there any cod to be found inside the bay and harbor? I'm out of Hingham/Weymouth, launching this weekend. Fiancee has never caught a cod, but was looking forward to trying this year. (She thinks they are delicious)

niko 04-28-2010 02:45 PM

try the ledges outside the harbor. you may get lucky and find a keeper or 2. presidents roads is worth a look too

Christian 04-28-2010 05:11 PM

Thanks, it has probably been 8 years since I went cod fishing. A bit rusty to say the least.

Winter flounder(blackbacks) are showing up in Gloucester Harbor. You are allowed 8 per person over 12".

Christian 05-12-2010 08:52 AM

Monty 05-12-2010 05:03 PM

I went out last week, plenty of flounder, a lot of shorts, and the keepers were real thin.

Hopefully with a good worm hatch they'll fatten up.

niko 05-12-2010 05:33 PM

we didn't have any shorts, we had some bruisers in the mix. christian - lets go kill some fish

Van 05-15-2010 08:37 PM

Saw my buddy in his boat today they did well.

Soooo........we be going tomorrow in my boat.

Only about 8-10 boats in the area and spread out too.

Successful hunting !!!:fishin:

We limited out but it took a while.
Wind was howling, (it was supposed to be light).
That hurt the drift even with the sock.
I think with a slower drift it would have been more
easier.:smash:
