Stealth glass. It's designed to allow bugs to get in to the no escape zone.

Nebe, that is just about the right size to hold my daily Guinness! Please let is cool first.........:gu:

buckman 04-09-2010 03:04 PM

Wow, That's awesome. What's it going to be used for?

Nebe 04-09-2010 03:29 PM

I was commissioned by a lighting company to make 10 shades to replace the original shades for some gas lamps @ a town hall in mass... the originals were made in 1850.. When they are cool, I will scribe 2 lines on the top and bottom with a diamond and pop the ends off with a small oxy propane torch to make it an open ended cylinder ... very tricky.

Fishpart 04-09-2010 03:34 PM

Sweet!!!

I definatly have one that is too short... cant use it. only issue is that its got a rough opening on the top. only way to seal it is with a cork and wax.... BUT.. I would trade you some brew for it :hee:

That would work for home brew...

How many gallons would it hold?

thanks for sharing that...very nice...

Saltheart 04-10-2010 11:48 AM

I love seeing people doing crafts.

Looks like they are coming out very nice!

The short one you describe is about perfect for 5 to 6 gallons , as a rough estimate. Secondary fermenters which is what the short one would make are always sealed by corks so that's not an issue. The big risk is will it be strong enough to hold about40 pounds of beer. If its not , you lose the jar , the beer and make a mess that will draw ants for about 100 years! :)
