First I want to thank Mike for helping me out big time In a pinch. To make a long story short. My lathe was stolen from my shed during a break in a year an half ago, but I didnt realize till recently when I went to go look for it. It suck cause it was a brand new Delta that had never been taken out of the box.......Well the plan was to turn some plugs as wedding favors for my up coming wedding. Mike was able to help me out since I havent been working there was no way I was going to buy a new lathe right now..........So a Big Thanks Mike.........God bless........

Now my question is the pencil is going to be in the wedding colors, Ivory, cranberry and gold which is fine..my problem is getting our names and the wedding date on the plug. We picked out a font that we like and to have a stencil made in the size we need will cost about $60...Is there any other and cheaper ways to do this? Thanks guys...I have to make 188. Sorry for the crappy photo's I took them with my phone.

get some clear sticker paper from staples/office max. print them on your computer, cut them out, stick them on, then epoxy over them, or just spray some clear on them. If you can find clear just get something close to the color of the plug. I love the clear paper.

if done similiar stuff for people using stickers or stuff i printed at home. I always epoxy over it, but have gotten away with just spray clear if i knew the plugs wouldnt be fished.

hope that helps. good luck, on the plugs and the wedding.

Glad and SAD

Glad to hear your getting Married- congrats
sad to hear your lathe got stolen Roy

perhaps you had the paperwork and serial numbers
to report it to the police since it was "brand new"

to all other S-B ers ...if you have a shed i'd be beefing up
the security on it.:uhuh:

If you go with the clear lables spray 1 coat of clear first them stick them on to that. They will stick better this way.

I know a few guys on the other site are using water transfer . You can make the print size & length what ever you want. With the stickers you are limited to the size of the stickers and most likely will have to use 2-3 of them.

Better than that; Get some "water-slide transfer" paper That is a long way to say "decal" paper. Print them on your computer/priner.
When you apply to the plugs there is no background from the sticker. Your wedding colors will show through the decal.

Same deal as the sticker just nicer and more professional looking.

The last time a friend bought it for me it was Staples.

you can also print on rice paper.
it will almost completely disappear under the epoxy when you wet it out.

Bill, is that what you use to do the sports themed plugs you've made? My son wants to do a Patriots plug.

You can get the decal paper at hobby shops and places like that, I know the model maker "Testors", makes packages of it.

Water slide transfer paper. Just make sure you spray a clear coat over the printed out page or the ink will run off when the water hits it. I used it for this plug I made for Plugfest a few years ago...
