Too good for them lets use our old rusty hooks to hang them by.

DaveS 03-04-2003 08:06 AM

Legal action is imminent.

UserRemoved1 03-04-2003 08:15 AM

nahh I like the rusty hook idea better :D

mikecc 03-04-2003 08:23 AM

BM
Is this the new job you were talking about seeing in the paper .:smash: :D

UserRemoved1 03-04-2003 08:25 AM

BM stands for "Britneys Man" now :D

mikecc 03-04-2003 08:29 AM

I called John and He just turned on the computer. he tracked the guy to Tiawan.and he said that this is not the first time.

Mike P 03-04-2003 08:38 AM

He was just on here briefly---saw his name at the bottom of the page. What the hell time is it in Taiwan now, like 2 AM?

JohnR 03-04-2003 08:44 AM

Well - he was using a proxy service from Taiwan but that's as far as I could check in a minute. There was a couple instances over the past week like this and those have been direct addresses in India. But I popped those addys so now the dingleberry is bouncing off a proxy in Taiwan.

But I'm going to investigate this further as now I'm a little tweaked.

bassmaster 03-04-2003 09:15 AM

I miss all the good stuff:P

BEETLE 03-04-2003 10:27 AM

I missed the whole thing too...

..when did it start, and what is (IT) ?

..no need to educate the next chit4brains...PM, I'm curious -pleeeez.

STEVE IN MASS 03-04-2003 10:59 AM

You got it.......

JohnR 03-04-2003 12:06 PM

OK - what happened today?

Well, someone scripted a "bot" (an application to do certain functions on web servers - good or bad depending on intent) that would access forums much like S-B's that would register, and reply spam to existing posts. Now this script is crafty in the sense that it searches for specific message board types, uses somewhat random names from random ip addresses often using remote proxies from other parts of the world. What does it do? at this point, not much more than spam links.

I know of a few hundred forums this has happened to and their may be thousands more as this picks on all kinds of sites - big & small.

I have a plan to prevent this from happening again and it will be executed throughout the next 2 days. Everything should be pretty much normal now. I will also partner up with numerous other web owners affected by this and we will likely pursue legal action on this.

Again, this does nothing other than spam right now and no negative damage of any sort - just REALLY FRIEKING ANNOYING :af:

Thanks & I'll address any questions (other than specific security measures relative to this site for obvious reasons :hihi: )

Although this sounds like a great idea... I'll bet he doesn't have any nuts... Because, if he did, he'd probably be busy playin' with them instead of buggin' us! :bshake:

Fishpart 03-04-2003 12:42 PM

Going after 100's of sites, could this be a "terrorist" attack with the intent of chewing up bandwidth that would otherwise be utilized to conduct business? Take people away from what they would noramlly be doing to repair the damage?

Just another conspiracy theory...........

Jenn 03-04-2003 12:44 PM

:eek5: :eek5: :eek5:

BEETLE 03-04-2003 12:56 PM

Sorry you had to wake up to this B/S today John. I was on around 5:30am today and saw this being done -- couldn't do nothing but watch it happen  - man was i pissed. :af: :af:

hooked 03-04-2003 01:01 PM

Too bad...

I was kind of looking forward to seeing my favorite celebrities nude.

I guess I'll have to rely on the porn that slips through the mail filters at work.

:smash:

JohnR 03-04-2003 01:02 PM

Uhhh - no terrorist attack. This is a "PornSpam Attack" ... A way to seed legitimit sites such as our own S-B to encourage our membership peruse the squalor and filth of nekkid chick sites :bshake: :rocketem: :nailem: :liquify:

chris L 03-04-2003 01:08 PM
