"I'm sorry (cough, cough) but I don't (sniff, sneeze) think I can make it in this weekend. I caught a mild case of Morone Saxatilis fever and I need a couple days to get over it (until the fall season).

Make sure to use a raspy, gravelly voice when delivering this line, and by no means let them see you in waders or hear the surf in the background!

now they are saying that working 11 hour days
is truly bad for your health. NO JOKE

we should all be working a FOUR day week

then this country will Prosper with Tourism
and people will have time to have fun again

I hear you man!! I am extremely busy at school so my weekdays are bad during the day and my two kids are playing sports right now that each have two practices in addition to one game a week. My head has been spinning for a month now and the madness does not end until the first week of June. I have only been fishing during lunch a couple times and one other night when a practice was canceled. Going to have to do a few nights and hit work with little to no sleep. Movie day.:)

Fishing when there are other important things you should be doing, either family or work, usually ends badly.

Tell me about it!! I had the whole week off, was gonna fish the whole week..then my 6lb pup got mauled by a pitbull saturday afternoon and has been inthe vet hospital all week. The price tag is going up by the hour.

Kinda took the life out of me wondering if he was gonna live or die. He had a surgery to repair liver, kidney and they took out a few inches of colon. He has bad pancreatitis now. I went out yesterday for a bit and got a good sunburn, but hard to care about fishing right now.

these are wise words, one needs to be sure not to shirk one's duties, BUT no balance in one's life can also end badly

I know how you feel. It's normal for me to work 50-55 hour work weeks regularly. Been feeling it lately, and it's time for a few days off.
I can usually handle stress, but too much stress for any length of time, is very, very tiring.
I truly hope you get to go fishing, my friend. I know this weekend I will.:)

Being your own Boss is even worse

Because ....even though your able to just knock off
when ever you want to...if your on a quest to succeed
and your relentless in your pursuit basically working until you drop
there is no counting the number of hours you work

being goal orientated doesn't allow for that.

Happiness is measured by doing what you LOVE to do

not by how much money you have or make in the END.

bad start to the season for me too. Been working crazy hours and some overnights also and to top it off just moved into a new place on the 1st and then last sunday the landlord tells me that his pregnant 7 month pregnant daughter's husband left her and they have to ask us to leave so she can move back home. Not even 2 weeks living here. So everyday scince I've been looking at new places after work until dark. Ready 2 snap!
