Surf fishing on Memorial day weekend
Heading out to the end of the Cape to do some camping. Never been to the Cape this early with family. How would my chances be surf fishing either side and any advice would be appreciated as to whether to use bait or not. Thanks ..love this stuff just new at it.

I might be out there too. Usually, lots of small fish on the ocean side with some keepers mixed in. If you have a sticker and the beach is open, you can pretty much drive the beach and sight fish. Bait is always an option but you'll have more success with small swimmers. The bay side from P-Town down to Eastham should be loaded as well. Bait at high tide in some of the beaches in Eastham typically land some big fish this time of year. Poke around the Pamet when the tides are moving too. Hope that helped. I'm sending you a PM.

Anyone who willingly drives to the Cape Memorial Day weekend is completely out of their mind. Unfortunately, put me on that list.
The fish are extremely mobile right now. There were a lot of schoolies around around one day, and the next they were no fish to be found. If you're all the way in Ptown I'd suggest swinging into Nelson's B&T, spend some money and ask for advice on recent local reports. |
As of May 14th, the stripers were not at Race Point. All we caught were sea robins. They are coming though

your chances of getting fish are high but you can expect a lot of extra company!

I'll be at the West Dennis Jetty alone on Friday Night 9-12 pm, Saturday Night 9-12pm and Sunday Morning with the wife and Kids...
I hope I am alone on Friday and Saturday night.... |

thanks for the advice...I hear you about traffic and people but being from Albany way this is the time I can make it for several days... :)

My sister is staying out in Montauk for the weekend and I am taking my 14 yo nephew out. I don't know how I agreed to this ( :smash: )but the kid just caught his first shore caught bass the other day and it was a keeper. Now he has the jones.
Traffic WILL suck but as long as there is a fish involved it will be ok. |
Grew up on LI , relocated to Upstate NY..wife and kids love the cape so screw the traffic...nothing better in my book than trying to get a striper off the beach...and hoping with time I'll get one. Best part is the 12 year old is into it as well :)
