slow in here and I finally finished up a small amount of the tons of stuff i have in various stages. Here are some of my first darters. I have always been a little hesitant on building darters but after doing it and making fixtures I have to say one of the most enjoyable plug I have ever made. Both are Musso designs. I still have 4 other Musso sizes unpainted yet, always next year. A special thanks has to go to JFigliuolo for supplying the eyes and bearing with me as we traded PM's about the eyes. It was a challenge to get them off the sheet of paper but the little tool I made worked out well. I think there is room for improvement but they look pretty darn good.

I got a few of the Musso swimmers done too. 2 Jr. and 1 Sr. surface swimmers. And of course I always have to finish up a few Goo Goo's, 2 small flat lip and 1 larger

A few old style, thin assed, Beachmaster dannies. I asked George for a good danny to replicate and he suqqested doing some of the old Beachmasters. I did have to make the lips. Last pic has a G2 slim and a Nike, both. Also finally finished the Peanut Conrad, which also required a lip made. The plug really swims good and look forward to making some eelskin versions in the future. That is it for this year. Too humid for any more epoxy right now so plug building is officially done till fall.

Mike

ProfessorM 06-06-2010 08:41 AM

Eyes I made out of polycarb. May be able to get you a couple saltydog. I'll have to look to see if I have any left, although I could whip you up a couple if need be. Send me a PM to remind me.

Mr. Nanook the Peanut conrad is 1.5 oz without hooks and 5 " long, almost an inch in diameter, how did I know you would be interested in that plug.

BigFish 06-06-2010 08:52 AM

Those dahtahs are amaaaazzzzzing! Spectacular work as always Paul!!:uhuh:

Swimmer 06-06-2010 11:50 AM

Nicely done Paul!

Grapenuts 06-07-2010 12:04 PM

OMG..I'm in total shock....I see lots of grain...

Diggin Jiggin 06-07-2010 12:34 PM

Nice stuff Paul. You'll have to let us know how you do with the darters. So many variables on a not so bouyant wood. The density of each piece of wood and the amount of sealer it soaks up can change how each one sits/swims.

The ones I made 2 years ago work better than the ones I made this winter after I thought I knew what I was doing...

GattaFish 06-07-2010 02:36 PM

Wow,,, the conrad, slim and nike,,,

LOL. Yes each one weighs a wee bit different. I heated and sealed them with epoxy for more strength in the lip area and I think, I say think, you can control the amount of sealer better than soaking them in a spar or other similar sealer for a specific time period, and hopefully get them to be a little closer in similarity as far as overall weight goes. We shall see. Thanks to all. Youz guys are great

LOL. I used lots of pine this time, except for the daters. Take off your glasses Mr. Magoo and they will look fine.

Slipknot 06-07-2010 08:03 PM

They all look nice paul, I bet they catch fish just fine.

and I don;t see any grain at all under the paint, only thing I see on one plug is a little tearout that didn't get sanded, but not grain.

how's the haba

Grapenuts 06-07-2010 08:09 PM
