TONIGHT-HEARING ON BYCATCH in RI DRAGGERS & MID WATER TRAWLERS
 

The Mid Atlantic Council is having a scoping hearing to find out if the public is concerned with by catch of Shad and River Herring in the Squid, Mackerel and Butterfish fisheries.

THIS IS THE ONLY NEW ENGLAND HEARING

These fisheries include the draggers that work in and around RI including the River and out in Block Island Sound.

This will also effect the Mid Water Trawlers when they target Mackerel.

Bottom line is if anyone can come out and let them know we want by catch reduced and that this is a real problem...please come to the hearing.
