mousam river

I am new to the area and I am looking for good summer flyfish spots. Has anyone ever float fished the Mousam in maine/parker river in Newburyport?

I haven't heard much about the mousam other than as a winter time sea-run brown trout fishery. The Parker has a lot of stripers near the mouth, but I'm not sure that its suitable for float fishing. What type of fly-fishing are you looking to do? I can give you other spots in southern maine.

I have fished the Mousam quite a bit. Nice piece of water. Fish the outgoing tide (last two hours). Watch the other fisherman walk out on the sandbar on the right side of the river as the tide drops.

Nice beach for the family as well.

Parking is limited in the summer.

I live near the Parker River in Newbury. Your best bet might be to try fishing from Sandy Point at the southern end of Plum Island.

I have never used a float but wading in this area is productive.
