Mono to Leadcore which knot?

I'm getting ready to setup a lightweight leadcore setup, just curious what is the best joining knot to mate mono to leadcore???

I use a very small ball bearing swivel. I believe SPRO makes them. They are small enough to slip through the guides on most rods. hope this helps.

Working carefully, tease about 12" of bare lead core out from the braided nylon overcoat. Snip the lead, then pull the braid back up again. Then use that 12" of braid (that no longer has lead wire inside) to tie whatever splicing knot you prefer. t's a little tricky to push the braid back to expose the bare wire, but work patiently and you'll get it. I sometimes build lead-core shoting heads this way for flyfishing, and make a similar splice for lake-trolling set-ups. Hope that's helpful... :)

I tried that "take the lead out" method, but when I pulled hard the knot broke. I actually found if I leave the lead in, the knot was stronger and still went through the eyes, with about a 20 lb leader.

179: Try a few methods is what I suggest.

I do like that idea of the SPRO swivel, I may try that myself.

I tie an overhand knot in the lead core and a uni behind it

tie and overhand

prior to sintching up the over hand i run the mono through it.

Sinch up the overhand

then tie a uni knot behind the overhand and pull them tight together.
