Casting to Tuna

Hi everyone,

My question is when you are in a tuna blitz do you retrieve fast or slow? I've heard that you give two or three twitches and the retrieve as fast as you can without making your lure leave the water.

Is anyone using polaris type poppers, do you use a slow retrieve with popping action?

Pencils? Again are we trying to keep the lure from leaving the water or should we keep it in place thrash it around while working it slow.

The questions are to help us try to hook up instead of trial and error as all of us know how fast the blitzes can stop.

Thanks,
Mike

my biggest on a spinner (around 225) was on a salty polaris popper. i chucked it into the frey and just twitched it a little, the action slowed down and one came up to clean up the leftovers. i've had my best luck w/ very slow/erratic retrieves
