Hailing MrHunters
Was you out Sunday morning around 7:15 at the Groaner?
looked like your boat. If so you were directly off my stern and then you moved towards Braces Cove and then back again. |
that was me :hidin: sorry i missed ya.
Had to go over to Rockport to make bait. No macks... lots of pollock where the macks were a week ago. How did you do? Dogs followed me around again. |
Morning was terrible. Had no macks after trying several spots. Must have gone by them in the inner harbor. Tried chunking herring, no luck. I heard that there was a bite in the afternoon.
Did good today for two hours of fishing. Will post later. |

These two fish one a 46 inch and the other a 38 inch were caught at the groaner Tuesday around 3:30PM the bite was just starting.

did the macks find there way back? must be nice fishing midweek. :wall:
I gotta figure out how to do that :smash: |
Nice fish once again. I got out on Monday, first time lauching the boat solo. Fog was thick so I stayed inside. Picked up a few schoolies, but more importantly the macs were thick in the harbor. Fog broke early afternoon, kicked outside, had a nice run off and Boom, that thunder storm rolled in. Needless to say it was 'interesting' pulling the boat solo in those gusts.

what kind of boat slick?
I was pretty nervous with my new boat..> The pilot house acts like a sail and with wind in that small channel it can get tricky. Add a good current and your in for some work if you are waiting. It gets easier every time. For me I have to gauge if the current is stronger than the wind and then I go to the down wind/current side of the dock and let the elements to the work for me... If you try the other side by yourself you are going to be in some trouble. Once you get a system down it's easy.. You are lucky you can experiment during the week. |
Yesterday macs were along the western shore of the harbor basically from the bridge to the green bouy of dollivers neck.

It's nice having every other Monday off. Provided Mother Nature cooperates. |

Downeast boats like mine with 3+ ft full keels have their advantages ! :grins: I used to FLY on the drift in my Parker, not so much anymore !!! |

Actually the bridge wanted me to hurry through so he could drop it, there was no traffic river/harbor side after me.
The Blynman turns into a washsing machine pretty darn quick, especailly depending on how hard the tide is running. Beatuiful set up there Mr. H. I'll keep my eye out for you that way we can not catch fish together. |

i need a lot of stuff.. Goal this year was to get the boat... Add as we go :)
I know hartop mount would be the way to go but they are SOO expensive. Gunnel mount or side mount might get me them quicker but I will lose some functionality. Guess I could always upgrade later  |

I've seen that place look like a washing machine and boats will swell from one side to the other... It's all timing riding a wave through.... I've also seen (i'm sure we all have going through there) a boat hit a swell then get caught up on the pilings. Its is not for the faint at heart some busy days. |
