Marlin hits press boat

A little sensationalized but worth a quick read....

Marlin goes berserk, attacks press boat during Hawaii tournament

I had visions of a Jerry Lewis movie where he got speared by a marlin.:biglaugh:

I hope they got good pictures, it was the press boat! Maybe more than a few pro-photographers on board.:)

The most amazing thing IMO is that you can see land in the background!!! If we had fish like that, that close to land, I would give up striper fishing forever.

You're never out of sight of land while fishing out there. Mauna Kia is over 20,000 feet tall While Mauno Loa is a measly 18,000 feet. :grins:

I'll be there for 2 weeks in October. Do you think my new bride will let me go fishing on our honeymoon? ;-)

Jon Schwartz 08-16-2010 10:07 PM

Hey guys this is Jon Schwartz the fishing photographer and writer. I was the only fellow on that boat that was rammed by the marlin, other than the mate and the captain, making it an even funnier story! I used to fish a lot ( from kayaks for marlins) but gave it up and told them if they wanted to drag lures they had to deal with whatever happened cuz I was only there to take photos..!Plus, did you know that two days later we were rammed by that 550# marlin, we tagged and released a 700 pounder? 'Tis true!
