Fish I.D.
Sorry no pics (we didn't think fast enough), looks like a cross between a tautog and a black sea bass caught yesterday just outside Plymouth Harbor jigging.
Mouth full of teeth, mottled black brown really slimy, about 12". Any ideas? |

Cunner or as most call them choggie .........They get big out there
|
What kind of teeth?
Pointed like a shark or a bluefish, or flat/rounded like beaver buck teeth? Was it a flat fish like a lounder, or a free swimmer like a scup? If it is the second of each choice, it could be a tog, or a large cunner. |

Thanks all and no wonder it looks so much like a tautog, the cunner's sci name is: Tautogolabrus adspersus.
We caught a small cunner earlier in the day and I.D.'d it right away but never thought about this being the mommy! Lots of pointy teeth behind those sweet, little tog lips. |
