What would you use, Braid or Mono?

Pete F. 09-03-2010 02:52 PM

I use 20 and 30# Fireline.
Bailless
Grease all the parts that penetrate the body, and put a bead of grease around the cover. Grease the interior like a normal reel. I have had mine under water for minutes at a time.
It works for me.

Thanks for the reply.
I always liked Fireline. Not always the easiest to find.

i used 30 and 50# PP, and also 30# fireline with my 704s and had no problems....

johnny ducketts 09-04-2010 02:54 PM

I think I'm using samuri braid no problems with it yet.

Fireline is tough to find these days.

JohnnySaxatilis 09-04-2010 03:57 PM

i have 40# pp on my bailless 704z, pretty good thus far

piemma 09-05-2010 02:41 AM

I started this year with Cortland Spectron 50# on one of my 704Z. It has worked out great.

PS: Thanks for the advice Back Beach.

I guess I'm the lone mono guy here.If you can find Ande Backcountry that's the way to go.

Rob Rockcrawler 09-05-2010 10:18 AM

I used 30lb fireline. I stocked up on the stuff last year because i was having a hard time finding the stuff. I hope they dont discontinue it. I dont think the demand is there compared to all the other brands of braid. Even though fireline really is in its own category.

I just got a 1 pound spool of 20 pound at Fisherman's Headquarters

I use both on mine. Mono for eels and rocks. Fireline for Sand or when I really need some casting distance especially when it is windy. That is why I have an extra spool

I have a brand new 3000 yard spool of 20# Backcountry. You interested?

pmueller 09-05-2010 11:01 PM

3000 yards of backcountry, thats impressive, I can add that to all the other bulk spools of PP and various mono's hanging around.
umm, what do you want for it?
I'm such a ho.
