On board Earl report from OB
I am at the east chop yacht club in ob harbor right in the n corner bulkhead on 2 sides (N and E)
Since i will prob be on board most/all night down here ( and board most of the night) I figured I would update you on the local conditions( a la Jim Cantore style) The wind just suddenly picked up and went from light to steady ESE 15 sky looks really smokey grey to the sw Lines look good My biggest worry is that wind driven rain will come thru the gap in the door. I stuffed some pipe insulation in the gap. |
Have fun riding this one out but storm is quickly falling apart.
|
stay dry
|
Tide is almost over the finger pier next to my boat... Still 3 more hours till high. I have never seen the water level move up so fast, you can watch it. I tied a spring line to the dock structure just in case it comes up too high
Raining now, sky looks real grey, wind ese 20 . A buddy just stopped by with ice and a couple cold ones for me : ) Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device |
It's guys like you that help keep boat insurance rates down. Thanks Jim! You should take a dated picture of yourself and send it to your agent. Maybe you'll get a discount off next year's rate ;-)
Hope you have some tunes, munchies and a little company. Stay safe! |
check wundermap on wunderground.com the nexrad is dead on.
|
My barometric pressure is dropping like a stone (I've got an old recording barograph). Put on a fresh paper at noon.

I had a guy shut one down - potential new client where I was doing an assessment, after I ran a full backup because his server. He has a new kinda crappy scratchbuild - had a failed RAID drive (RAID1), had only been partially backed up, and never fully backed up. Mickey Mouse. |
Re-starting as I right. Fortunately it was only the local lan room

I was a sleep till about 6:30 then got up untied all 16 lines and then went out to look for bonito! It was beautiful. (they were in tight to the beach this morning...reachable from shore!! No one fishing them....
Once you get away from the harbor, the water is surprising clean. I don't think this storm did much to stir up the weed either. The 3 day nor easter we had before this was worse. This was a lot of todo about a rainstorm wth some gusty winds. I feel sorry for the shop keepers here who's long weekend was a bust. As the Mayor from Jaws said ...as you see, it's a beautiful day, the beaches are open and people are having a wonderful time. Amity, as you know, means "friendship". Anyway it was a fun night. Thanks for putting up with my posts last night. |
Who you kidding I had $20 on you drifting all the way to succonnesset :rotf2:
