Why is fishing so addictive?

I'm the kind of person that's a jack of all trades but master of none. Been into a lot of sports over the years but fishing is probably the most addictive and thought consuming.

It's the peace of the beach, the chance of catching large, but most of
all "the Hit on the plug."

BigFish 09-08-2010 11:03 AM

Anything fun and enjoyable is easily addictive!:uhuh:

out of all the years I played football, basketball, baseball I can never remember not being able to sleep because i was thinking about playing.

If theres a good tide at 2 a.m and i cant get out because of work ect I literally have trouble sleeping thinking about what could have been.

It's the pursuit of bigger, better or more and the challenge of winning the fight and the feeling of victory.

one of the reasons i fish is for the adventure. life is good but at times a little routine between work and family duties. fishing is one of the few ways i get to have a little adreniline flow before i go home and change diapers

BigFish 09-08-2010 11:44 AM

Because its there!

WESTPORTMAFIA 09-08-2010 12:11 PM

Real men fish!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actulally sounds like a good S-B bumper sticker

MrHunters 09-08-2010 12:29 PM

fishing doesn't end when you leave "the field". Getting my tackle ready, reels spooled up, making everything just so, research, how to's, the unknown, the long off season to re rig everything, planning your next trip to make it better than the last, long droughts, massive blitzes..... you get the idea. There is alot to it and it's all addicting.

The strike and pull is like cocaine raw, rip your whole brain off. For me, I think its the dopamine.

Good for you, Jimmy! When did you stop wearing them?:rotf2:

There are lots of reasons that I fish. On the boat, I just like being out on the water and being away from work, etc... From shore, I like the idea of finding new spots and learning how to work them. Sometimes it's fun to be fishing in a crowd and sometimes I like the solitude of being alone in the middle of the night.

But one of the things that keeps me obsessed/addicted is that you never know what's out there. The feeling of the first hit or pick up never gets old. There's something abotu not knowing what's on the end of your line and the split second feeling that it might be a cow.

At this point I'm happy with anything I can get. I almost took a picture of a bunch of weeds that I reeled in this morning.

Having 15 years clean off a variety of substances I state the following with an expert and professional resume'

Fishing is directly tied to the most desireable and powerful human emotion...nothing ca be more addictive...that emotion is

HOPE!!!!!

Swimmer 09-09-2010 05:25 PM

Why?

I fish, therefore I am!

mackenzie 09-10-2010 07:10 PM

Wondering what the next cast will bring.

Piscator 09-10-2010 07:18 PM

You never know what your going to get..........It's funny how fast a tide goes when you are fishing.
