tog talk
so when we were coming in on monday we were talking to a group of divers and they said they have been seeing alot of big tog in good numbers in my neck of the woods. i catch them as bycatch once in a while while striper fishing, but most people don't target them up here. i may go looking for them on sat and see what's what. anyone been catching any?
plenty down here in my neck.buzzards bay.but have also seen them up there while diving around plymouth very close to shore..
I can't wait to tog,I tried it once and had a blast. This year, with a more accomadating vessel, I plan to hammer them.

While trying to get pollock for tuna, I've been catching a ton of cunner, which are a cousin of tog. You get a 2 lb cunner on your sabiki it feels like a bluefish.
An SB tog rendezvous (in Buzzards Bay) would be awesome!!! I would definently go.
Frankly I find tog fishing a blast and I look forward to it every fall. I normally don't go though until the first week in OCT. Last year the comm guys flodded the market and it was closed by the time I got out but I went a few times rec. It was a blast, no one out there and the fishing was great. |
togfest 2010 - sounds good to me. we can use fish4stripers boat as a livewell, last year it was taking on so much water as we were counting fish they were swimming all over the boat
Keep me in the togfest loop.

togfest? did someone say togfest? If I am still in the water I'd be interested.
Love tog fishin, but more importantly... love tog eatin !! |
If this really materializes, and while I have some commitments to take my kid college visiting this fall, if it works out...I would be willing to take a couple SB'ers to experience the thrill of toggin in BB. I could swing into woods hole for a pickup.
how about the first weekend in november - weather permitting of course. too late?
I'm in, I would love to see this boat
I could take 2-3 leaving out of Fairhaven/New Bedford harbor.
first week of nov?i take it you guys arnt deer hunters....
So little time and so much to kill.
I like 3rd week in oct because last year the run was very early...guys were killing them in Sept. My best trip last year I think was in mid Oct. Also, I find as the season gets later they move further out to the outter reefs. I was fishing at the mouth of BB in mid oct and it was great. The comm guys were fishing up near Cleveland Ledge in Sept and limiting out. Also there is a better chance for a half way decent weather day in oct, once Nov comes...you need to pick-em.
Frankly I think the hardest thing will be to get the weather to cooperate. when it is blowin 25 the mouth of BB ain't exactly pretty...I still will fish but you better bring your rubbers. I like this thread...I ran down after a late dinner to check to see if there is any interest in this.. |
i hit a deer with my truck once. does that count
still in, have been out in BB in that weather even in dec.
I've never caught one and would love to get in on this.
we slayed them all nov in bb last year, but oct is cool with me
i dont get out much after the com. season for tog.always say im gonna love toggin but i cant stay out of the damn tree...need meat in the freezer too..although i think its the horns that gets me up there everyday.
i hit one with the truck to .opening day of bow season about 3 years ago it sucked damn thing ruined my hunt...

If guys don't mind ferrying over to OB, I could take 4 to OB on the maritime CC from Falmouth ramp
