how sweet is that!? first fish on a new reel, 33#. bait, eels or pluggage?

fishbones 09-16-2010 08:22 AM

Congrats on the PB! That's a real nice fish. She looks bigger than 33lbs to me, though. Someone did a nice job taking that photo.

iamskippy 09-16-2010 08:56 AM

Pmbrac turned me onto eels in this location. He also hooked a fish around the same size and let it go but i didnt have a cameria with me.

And they sound even sweeter to the guys within earshot, who hear that song ;)

My drags hiss--they don't sing. A singing spinning reel on the Canal is like wearing a flashing neon sign that reads, "Big Fish On!!! Right Over Here!!!" :rotf2:

On a calm night, when my partner decides to move a couple of hundred yards up to the next hole, I can tell when he has a fish on by how his braid sounds coming through the guides ;)

now catch a cow with a plug

were you out in the lightning last night by any chance?

bigbuck28 09-17-2010 09:00 AM

I almost went. But when i saw 60 mph for aorund my neck of the woods i stayed home.

Mike P 09-17-2010 04:24 PM

I started out about 8. Halfway to where I was going to fish, it started pouring like hell. I think, no problem, I have raingear. Uh--wait a sec. My wife took the Jeep to NY over the weekend, and I cleaned all of my fishing %$%$%$%$ out of it--the effing rain gear is still in my shed. :wall:

So instead of turning around and getting it, I think--hey, I'll bet I can get a cheap set at OS Job Lot

I would have lost that bet :hs:

By this time it's almost 9. Slack is at 11. By the time I go home and get the raingear, I'll have a whole hour of the tide left, and on this half moon, it won't be moving very much.

So I went home, racked the rod and poured a stiff drink :rotf2:
